A Regency rosewood games table, circa 1815, with brass galleried shaped drop ends, the sliding leather inset top, with marquetry chequer board and cribbage board to the reverse, with embossed later leather backgammon to the interior, on painted and parcel gilt lyre supports on paw feet, height 73.5cm, width 100cm overall, depth 42.5cm, Literature: a related design for a similar table exists in a Gillows estimate sketch dated 13 April 1813. Although the design describes a "sofa" table, the striking similarity of the design elements of the top to the table being offered is apparent. The "lyre" end supports exemplified by this table are also known to be favoured by Gillows during the same period. (See pages 265 and 303, Gillows of Lancaster and London, Susan E.
