A GOOD EARLY 20TH CENTURY CHINESE SILVER & JADE OVAL BOX BY LUENWO OF SHANGHAI, the fruit form jade cover carved in relief with leafage and a butterfly, the silver box with two confronting dragon in relief divided by an engraved monogram cartouche, the base with an impressed character mark and 'LUENWO', 6.2in wide x 4.25in x 3.4in high.
CHINESE COINAGE. Chinese silver and base metal coinage examples, including a Sinkiang Tael 1917, a 1914 Dollar also another of 1921. A Kwang Tung Dollar, a Kiangnan Province Dollar , Kiris Dollar also Foo-Kien Dollars ( fakes?). Kiangnan 20 Cents piece 1905, Mancuria and Hu-Puh Provinces 1895-1907. Kwang Tung 1890-1905. Also a large quantity of Cash coinage in 20/10/5/1 pieces from different provinces.
A Chinese crackle glaze porcelain snuff bottle of globular form with cylindrical neck, painted with chrysanthemum heads throughout and with floral band to the neck, bearing four character mark to base, height 6.5cm, a further flat ovoid carved hardstone example with ring mask handles, and another white opaque glass example incised and gilt decorated with auspicious character mark to both sides, with enamelled stopper and silver spatula (3).The first two items purchased at Sotheby's Chester in 1988. CONDITION REPORT: Globular; crazing and fine hairline cracks to base. Hardstone example; slight surface wear. Third; chips to rim, glue repair to stopper.
A late 19th century Chinese porcelain squat baluster tea caddy, painted in underglaze blue with figural terrace scene with willow in the background to one side, unmarked, with Victorian hallmarked silver mounted top with detachable lid, engraved with crowned initials 'M le F', height 11.5cm. CONDITION REPORT: Some surface dirt and wear to the base, a few areas of firing imperfections, heavy tarnish to the silver mounts, otherwise appears good with no further signs of faults, damage or restorations.
WANG HING (probably); a late 19th/early 20th century Chinese Export silver mustard pot decorated in relief with blossoming prunus, with 'WH' and silver grade (rubbed) stamps to base, height 5cm, approx 1.6ozt (af). CONDITION REPORT: Lacking the lid, otherwise general surface wear commensurate with age throughout, there are numerous dents to the base, the rim is slightly misshapen, also note possible repair to split to the rim as well, minor dents to the thinner surfaces, etc.
