Together with a scrolling floral carved jade necklace pendant / brooch having a central cabochon of brown banded stone all in a pierced intricate dragon setting on a C clasp verso with cable link chain to the top, marked with CHU & chinese characters, surface tests indicate silver. A 19th century Chinese famille rose teapot decorated with a deer, a red capped crane and flowering foliage, with peach finial, silver handles with impressed mark and a silver and enamel spout cover, 12cms high.Condition ReportThere is a chip to the inside rim of the cover and some wear to the gilded decoration. Another chip on the silver enamelled handle lugs and spout cover but there are no other chips or cracks.

24 TSUBA (HAND GUARDS)Edo period (1615-1868), 17th to 19th centuryThe first 17 all iron; the first circular, katchushi type, pierce-cut with two small gourds; the second oval, chiselled with Amida yasuri (radial striations) and inlaid in copper alloys and gold with a bamboo plant; the third circular, inlaid in copper with a tsuridono (fishing pavilion) at the end of a jetty; the fourth rounded square, with three fanged fish in positive silhouette; the fifth nearly circular, chiselled and pierced with two hollyhock leaves, signed Echizen no ju Kinai saku; the sixth roughly circular with a hammered-up surface, chiselled and inlaid in gold with floating cherry blossoms and a mountain; the seventh diamond-shaped, with two stylised piercings; the eighth roughly circular, Yagyu type, pierced as a 12-spoked wheel; the ninth roughly circular, the degraded surface overlaid in nunome technique with gold flowers and tendrils; the tenth roughly circular, the surface chiselled with numerous Amida yasuri; the eleventh rounded rectangular, small, undecorated, with ryohitsu; the twelfth pierced and chiselled as six stylised pine trees; the thirteenth rounded rectangular, roughly chiselled and inlaid with a landscape and plants; the fourteenth oval, with a silver rim, signed Kunihiro; the fifteenth oval, chiselled and inlaid in silver and gold with a Chinese scholar in a landscape (the face missing); the sixteenth roughly circular with hammered-up surface and radial lines in gold nunome overlay around the perimeter; the seventeenth mokko (four-lobed), with a gilt-metal rim, stamped with star motifs; the eighteenth rounded rectangular, copper, chiselled and inlaid in gold and copper alloy with aubergines; the nineteenth octagonal, copper, with a 16-petal chrysanthemum motif on each side; the twentieth mokko, silvered copper alloy, chiselled with peach fruit and blossom; the twenty-first roughly circular, yamagane, pierced as a 16-spoked wheel; the twenty-second rounded square, copper, hammered up and pierced; the twenty-third mokko, copper alloy, plain; the twenty-fourth roughly circular, brass, the surfaced textured, chiselled and inlaid in relief with a dragon and tiger, signed Ikkansai. EIGHT FUCHI-GASHIRA (HILT COLLARS AND POMMELS)Edo period (1615-1868), 18th to 19th centuryThe first six all shakudo nanako chiselled in relief and inlaid with gold and other metals and alloys: the first with Genta Kagesue and Sasaki Takatsuna racing across the Uji River; the second inlaid with horses and grooms in a pine forest, signed Soheishi Kitagawa Nyudo Soten sei; the third with an unidentified historical scene, signed Soheishi Nyudo Soten sei; the fourth with a Chinese mounted warrior on the kashira and carpenters working on a large wooden beam on the fuchi; the fifth with the herdboy Kengyu (Chinese: Qianniu) leading an ox in the clouds, signed Asami Hokyu (Haynes 1613, with the family name there misread as Asagai) with a kao; the sixth shakudo migakiji (polished ground), chiselled in relief and inlaid with gold details depicting Kosekiko (Huang Shigong) on horseback (on the kashira) and Choryo (Zhang Liang) fighting a dragon (on the fuchi), signed and dated Kansei kanoe-inu [. . .] Bushu Nakahara Yukitoshi tsukuru (Nakahara Yukitoshi of Nagato Province made this in 1790, Haynes 124783); the seventh shibuichi migakiji (polished ground), chiselled in relief and inlaid with gold, copper, silver, and shakudo depicting Genta Kagesue and Sasaki Takatsuna racing across the Uji River; the eighth of the same materials as the seventh, perhaps depicting Yoshitsune leading the charge down the Hiyodori Pass, signed Goshu no ju Mitsuyoshi (Mitsuyoshi of Omi Province) with the same kao as reproduced in Haynes 5584 (but not of the date given there).
