A CHINESE SILVER MUG, PROBABLY HUO CHEONG, CANTON, MID 19TH CENTURY slightly tapered body chased with figures of scholars and attendants outdoors, a roundel inscribed Ella A. Fowler. / 18??, with leaf-wrapped scroll handle, gilt interior, stamped HC only 10.5cm , 216gr (7oz) Since both this and the following lot come from the same source and are both inscribed 'Fowler', and that the other mug definitely has a Canton provenance, it would seem likely the mark 'HC' is for the Canton based Huo Cheong, rather than the Shanghai based Hung Chong who also used an 'HC' mark.

Anatomical figure has yellowing and stains. Sphygmomanometer is by Accoson, has various wear, scuffs and case has scratches - it is not known whether in working order or not. The pair of turquoise coloured vases are also in good condition with a small amount of possible restoration to one of the rims but overall good. The small blue and white ginger jar is in good condition with no cracks or repairs Floral vase has one small rim chip and a large re-glued rim chip approx. 3 cm wide. The height of the larger ginger jar is 26 cm, and that is excluding the stand. The height of the pair of turquoise vases excluding the stands, are 23.5 cm. A small group of Chinese porcelain, 18th and 19th centuries, comprising: a silver mounted blue and white teapot and cover, 10.5cm high, (cover s.d.); an Imari sparrow beak milk jug and cover, 12cm high, (chips to spout and finial); a Canton famille rose teacup; a similar saucer; and two further teabowls and saucers. (8) Condition Report: Apart from the jug the other items appear to be in good condition.
A Chinese silver wire-inlaid bronze tripod ding censer, bearing Xuande regnal date equivalent to 1431 AD, but probably late 18th century, the stout sides meticulously inlaid in fine and thicker wires, on each side three typical Ming-style dragons disputing a pearl between a pair of applied elephant head handles hung with loose rings, all between a galleried rim and three short conical feet below, the underside centre inlaid with an elaborate dragon-framed cartouche containing an eight character mark in Zhuanshu seal script, Xuande wu nian Wu Bangzuo zhi, 'made by Bangzuo in the fifth year of emperor Xuande [1431]' maximum diameter approximately 46cm Notes: By far the majority of Chinese ding and gui censers cast in bronze bear a cast or inlaid 'Xuande' mark; almost always apocryphal. Several un-inlaid bronze censers are recorded bearing similar Wu Bangzuo inscriptions, some incorporating an identical Xuande 'fifth year' date. While the dragons on the present piece are Ming in style they appear to be more Qing in character.
CHINESE PORCELAIN WHITE GLAZED EWER OR BALUSTER SHAPED RICE WINE POT. The vertically ribbed body overall decorated with incised Grecian key bands and having hard stone spout tip and metal mounted and lined overall. The handle with inlaid silver wire-work. 13cms high. * CONDITION REPORT: The handle has been cracked through at some stage. Some surface wear and rubbing to metal and porcelain in places otherwise no further damage or restoration.
