The leather inset has rips and losses, a large section is missing and torn offThe clock movement has a cylinder escapement which appears to be ticking at time of report, there is no winding key present. Dreweatts have not fully tested the movement and cannot make any guarantees or comments as to accuracy or if the movement is working we suggest getting the clock appraised by a professional clock restorer prior to use. A box containing assorted items to include a Jaeger Chronos Works clock, a Victorian oak and horn mounted table ornament, a violin and bow, a banjo and a regulator type wall clock CONDITION REPORTS Violin back excluding neck is 36 cm. In need of re-stringing. Has had heavy use with crazing to the varnish, bridge off, scratches, etc to the back. There is something rolling around inside the body of the violin - unsure what this is. A ordem secreta de Auchinleck..., featuring a caricature of a British Army commander Claude Auchinleck (1884-1981) sitting in a candle lit tent at a table writing a secret order, with a bed, clock, and maps around him, an oversized German general and military theorist Erwin Rommel (1891-1944) is shadowing over him, the reverse of the poster features a copy of the Secret Order dated 23 March 1942 and its' translation to Portuguese, asking to 'discourage the idea that Rommel is anything but an ordinary German general', 'to stop altogether talking of Rommel when we mean the enemy in Libya. We must refer to the Germans, or the Axis Forces, or the enemy, never specifically to Rommel.' signed C.J. Auchinleck, General, Commander in Chief, Middle East Forces, with a P.S. note 'I am not jealous of Rommel!' Good condition, minor creasing, staining, foxing, double sided.
