Weltkrieg sind von allergrößter Seltenheit, frühe Hauptwerke wurden 1933 aus öffentlichen Sammlungen beschlagnahmt und vernichtet.Veit Hofmann sagte 2005 über das Werk Jüchsers: "Die Bilder von Hans Jüchser sind wie Juwelen, geheimnisvoll und tief. (...) Er beschäftigte sich mit seinen Bilder solange, bis sie eine eigene Seele hatten". Durch seinen Ernst sowie die nüchterne und statische Komposition strahlt unser Gemälde eine Stille aus, in der sich genau diese Seele und die "Klänge unaufdringlicher Geheimnisse" des blassen Jungen entfalten können. Hans Jüchser wirkte seit 1928 als freischaffender Maler und Graphiker und gilt als überaus wichtiger und namhafter Künstler der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts in Dresden. Sein Werk, beeinflusst durch Künstler wie Paul Cézanne und Vincent van Gogh, bewegt und fasziniert durch seine geheimnisvolle Anziehungskraft und zeitlose Qualität. Das zunehmende Interesse an Jüchser als bedeutendem Vertreter der "Dresdner Malschule" zeigt sich zuletzt durch eine Sonderausstellung in der Städtischen Galerie in Dresden (siehe Literaturhinweis).Das Gemälde besticht durch sein organisches Zusammenwirken von Geist, Gefühl und Handwerk. Sein Malstil bewegt sich zwischen der Kunsttradition des Expressionismus sowie Einflüssen der Neuen Sachlichkeit. Das nuancenreiche Dunkel des Gemäldes zeigt Jüchsers souveränen Umgang mit der Farbe. Es zeugt von einer sensiblen und zugleich emotionalen Malerei sowie dem Bemühen um hohe Farbkultur von seltener Vollkommenheit.Mit dem Beginn seiner freischaffenden Tätigkeit zu Zeiten der Wirtschaftskrise brachen schwere Jahre für den Maler an, in denen seine Bilder vor allem von Melancholie, Hoffnungslosigkeit und Depression geprägt waren. Die Figurendarstellung, in trüber und gedämpfter Tonskala, verweist in ihrer Lethargie auf die politischen und sozialen Verhältnisse und macht das Bild zu einem einprägsamen Zeitzeugnis. In den dunklen, glanzlosen Augen des introvertierten Knaben steht ein Schicksal Not leidender Menschen geschrieben, für das Jüchser aus seiner bürgerlich-humanistischen Gesinnung heraus große gefühlsmäßige Solidarität aufbrachte.

They shared the same age and both shared a love of cricket. The poet spent many hours watching cricket at the St Helen’s Ground which was but a 'big six' from his childhood home in Cwmdonkin Drive, Swansea. As a radio producer, John Arlott used Dylan for many performances on the BBC World Service. It was said that Dylan borrowed money from Arlott on multiple occasions and always paid him back, except that is when Dylan Thomas borrowed £5 to go to America in 1953 - his last fateful trip from which he did not return.Comments: signed twice, very good overall
