KELMSCOTT PRESS. "The History of Reynard the Fox." by William Caxton, orig vellum binding, gilt lettered spine, ties comp, 4to, William Morris, at the Kelmscott Press, Upper Mall, Hammersmith in the County of Middlesex.... 15th Day of December, 1892, Sold by Bernard Quaritch, 15, Picadilly, London vg copy (See illustration).
WWII – Autograph – Field Marshal Erwin Rommel fine original 6xs4 photograph (press agency issue) showing Rommel inspecting his Afrika Corps troops in the desert c1943 with a fine bold signature in ink ‘Rommel’ in a lighter portion of the image. The elusive signature of one of the great heroes of WWII – respected as much by the Allies as he was in his native Germany is rare and highly sought after by collectors. This is a particularly fine example showing him in the desert where he was facing the equally brilliant Montgomery culminating in the decisive battle of El Alamein.
WWI autograph letter signed by Captain J de L Simonds, RGA, dated April 9th 1915, to Major Harrison sending his congratulations on the occasion of Harris’s son, Lt E G W Harrison being awarded the Military Cross [for his bravery at Neuve Chapelle] ‘...young Harrison rolled along with his section and said that he was going to fire 25 rounds at the trenches a few hundred yards away. The Bosches turned a battery and a half of 8inch howitzers on him & he never seemed to notice these. He ran about in the open between the two guns and the service was never interrupted for a moment...’, together with a photograph presumably of Harrison, two press cuttings, one giving his citation and two other related documents
