Legal – the Captain Jack Broome libel case album of press cuttings concerning the famous case of Captain Jack Broome who successfully sued for libel against the accusation that he had been responsible for the demise of the ill fated Convoy PQ -17 convoy during WWII – at the time the damages awarded of some £40000 was the highest ever awarded in legal history. The album includes an als of Broome written in the aftermath of the case as well as two other letters concerning it. In his letter Broome says : ‘...I have come out of it all without a scratch really...every libel case for the next 50 years at least will reverberate with references to Broome v Irving and Cassell...’
