The Beatles, a unique colour film footage of the Beatles arriving in New Zealand on 21st June 1964, film by an enthusiastic home movie marker who had recently acquired a new colour movie camera, after borrowing a press pass from a media friend he conned his way on to the tarmac & positioning himself at the foot of the aircraft where he proceeded to film the Beatles. The footage runs for approx 2min 4 seconds and is believed to be the only colour footage of the Beatles arrival in NZ, the footage is unpublished & sold with copyright. This lot will be subject to 5% import tax on the hammer price.

CONDITION: boards lightly rubbed and marked, more heavily at extremities. The armorial bookplate of Evelyn Henry Tschudi Broadwood (of the Broadwood Piano family) to front pastedown and with his name in ink to front blank endpaper; o/w VG. Very Scarce

Cigarette Machine manufactured by National Automatic Machines Ltd., Progress House, Kingston Road, London. Standing approximately 30" tall 5½" wide and 5" deep, it has an alloy `Cigarettes` plate on the front and a larger version each side. The front also has a circular alloy plate with the price - 2d and a rectangular plate `Press Button For Rejected Coins`. The glass window above the dispensing tray is advertising Wills Woodbines. Brass makers plate each side at the bottom. Requires restoration but it comes with the key and is in working condition albeit requiring cleaning and oiling.

A collection of letters by Welsh painter AUGUSTUS JOHN (1878 - 1961) Ten are signed `Augustus John`, two signed `Augustus`, and one unsigned, all written to art collector, Stephen Teltch, dated between February 1960 and August 1961. The content relates to both his own work and that of Teltch`s `God-child`, whom Teltch has asked him to view. Together with a letter by DORELIA JOHN (1881 - 1969) One page, signed, written also to Stephen Teltch, apologising for not thanking him for the brandy he sent John and herself and a letter by English painter JOSETTE JONES (1894 - 1989) Three pages, signed `Jo`, written to `Emo`, apologising for a previous letter from Augustus. Josette was a pupil of both Augustus John and Walter Sickert, and an unframed, photograph of Augustus John beside his self portrait on exhibition at the Tooth Gallery. Inscribed on label verso his obituary. Stamped twice verso by Keystone Press agency Ltd.
