A remarkable group of seventeen leaves in Spanish, signed by Riquelme (Alonso, first treasurer of Peru), Salcedo (Garcia de, first 'Veedor' at Lima), Ampuero (Francisco, Councillor at Lima, husband of Ines Huaylas), Pizarro (Pedro, a founder of Arequipa and historian of the Conquest, cousin of Francisco) and others, from the Notary Public's Registers of civil deeds of Ciudad de Los Reyes (Lima) and Arequipa, comprising seven complete documents, the ends of six others including a long portion on twelve sides, the beginnings of four, and a note of the beginning of a new section of the register at Arequipa, together thirty four sides folio, Lima (sides 1-19), 16th August 1543 - c. 5th November 1545, and Arequipa (sides 19-34), 2nd August 1557 -2nd May 1565. Side thirty two ends of lines faint from water stain (but can mostly be made out), side thirty four small defect at end of a few lines with loss of a few letters but no loss of sense. Some leaves bear, in later pencil, names or dates which require correction using the present descriptions. The leaves are signed by the party or parties who issued the original deed, and by the notary public. Several of the earliest are signed by Alonso Riquelme and Garcia de Salcedo who with Francisco Pizarro and Rodrigo de Mazuelas, signed the famous foundation document of Lima (18th January 1535). Riquelme had sailed from Spain as Pizarro's treasurer to discover and conquer Peru. In an intriguing document he gives power of attorney to the local priest and to Don Alonso de Montemayor to handle all suits arising from his 'encomienda' or Indian estate, here called 'Los Guanachupachos'.
