A Victorian brass bound oak cased canteen of plated cutlery, Old English pattern, with two removable trays, the lid with inset brass plaque inscribed 'Corporal Major Basset from Major Tennant 1887', together with a copy of a newspaper clipping describing his career and the gift of the canteen, width 45cm.General wear to case, the joins on the lid have become separated but are stable, the lining has moth damage, two tablespoons, one teaspoon missing, knives and carving set are replacements lacking five dessert knives, six knives and two parts to the carving set are missing.
