Cased Canteen of Formal Pattern NSDAP Cutlery Liberated From German Embassy in Spain, a truly superb and almost complete set of the formal silverware cutlery which was once used in the official German Embassy in Spain (Madrid?) during the time of the Third Reich. The cutlery set is housed still in the original wooden transit case and consists of four trays complete with most of the contents, 183 pieces out of 187 (1 knife broken, two knifes missing and 1 spoon missing). Amongst the expected knives, forks and spoons, is also items such as asparagus server, nutcrackers, cake slice, tea strainer, ladle’s, large serving knives etc. All the silverware has raised down winged NSDAP pattern eagle and swastika emblems to the lower stems. The trays are all numbered and have details of the utensil and how many should be present. Most of the pieces are struck with the official silversmith who made much of the Adolf Hitler personal silverware, “BRUCKMANN”. This is probably as close to a unique item in terms of formal silverware you would likely to find on the collecting market today and we strongly believe the only reason that this has remained together since 1945 is that Spain was not occupied by the allied troops and souvenir hunters. This collection has remained in one family since 1945. Please note this lot is very heavy so international post and packing will be expensive and will need to be conducted by specialist shippers. UK buyers we would advise personal collection or delivery service.
