A late 19thC canteen of sterling silver cutlery and flat ware, four plates for twelve place settings, with additions, all with ornate scroll handles, engraved with the crest of a stag, inscribed `Ryrie Brothers, Sterling` and patent 1895, 163 pieces, 186oz, contained in a mahogany canteen with inset mark for Ryrie Brothers Ltd., Toronto, with a crested plaque and motto to the lid, and a set of twelve fish knives and forks with similar handles bearing monograms.

[HITLER ADOLF]: (1889-1945) Fuhrer of the Third Reich 1934-45. A silver dinner fork, previously part of a set of cutlery belonging to Adolf Hitler, the fork being 7” in length and bearing the makers mark to the reverse alongside half moon and crown hallmarks and the 800 ‘purity’ mark. Hitler’s initials A H are engraved at the base of the handle. [BRAUN EVA]: (1912-1945) German Companion and, briefly, wife of Adolf Hitler. A dinner knife, previously part of a set of cutlery belonging to Eva Braun, the knife being 8.5” in length, the silver handle bearing the hallmark of the maker Wellner and 800 ‘purity’ mark and the stainless steel blade with the maker’s mark of Hefra of Poland. The attractively designed handle bears Eva Braun’s engraved monogram E B at the base. [GOERING HERMANN]: (1893-1946) German Political & Military Leader, a leading member of the Nazi Party. A silver egg spoon, previously part of a set of cutlery belonging to Hermann Goering, the spoon being 4.5” in length and bearing two hallmarks. Goering’s personal crest showing an armoured upraised arm grasping a ring is engraved to the handle within a bordered plain shield. [HIMMLER HEINRICH]: (1900-1945) Nazi German Politician, Reichsfuhrer of the SS. A heavy silver plate teaspoon, previously part of a set of cutlery belonging to Heinrich Himmler and used by him on his train, the spoon being 5.5” in length and bearing the hallmark of the maker Bruckmann to the reverse, alongside a small locomotive engine and the content mark of 90. Himmler’s runic HH monogram is engraved to the handle.
