A canteen of Newbridge EPNS King's Pattern cutlery, eight place setting, comprising four serving spoons, eight dinner forks, eight salad forks, eight dessert spoons, eight soup spoons, eight cake forks, eight teaspoons, eight butter knives and eight dinner knives, complete in a fitted case, together with a set of Sheffield EPNS King's Pattern fish knives and forks, twelve-place setting (80)CR: There is mild to heavy scratching and wear throughout all pieces - this is most pronounced on the serving spoons, which show heavy scratching to bowls. The forks and spoons show mild to heavy and loss of definition on the shell backs, and mild to moderate loss of definition to the detail on the handles. Some pieces show minor thinning and denting around the rims/tines. No signs of repair to any of the pieces.

A set of three egg spoonsFrench silverGuilloche decoration the bowl with blank cartouche by QUEILLÉHallmarks: Minerva 1st grade, master goldsmith PQ for 1847-1895(in very good condition)The QUEILLÉ were a dynasty of goldsmiths specialised in silver cutlery and tableware in the 19th century. The company achieved the extraordinary longevity of approximately one century, during which remained in the family ownership. The original maker's stamp "an antique oar" flanked by the PQ initials wont suffer but minor alterations during the firm's long life.The house was founded by the spoon maker Pierre-François QUEILLÉ, who engraved his stamp in 1808, continuing his activity until 1834.He is succeeded by Pierre-François QUEILLÉ II, cutler, who registers his own mark in October 23, 1834. A dessert cutlery set for 6EnglandMaker ELKINGTON 6 Co Ltd.Comprising of 6 forks and 6 knives in silver and mother-of-pearlHallmarks: Anchor, lion passant, master goldsmith, Birmingham 1907In the original wooden case with brass label for FERGUSON & MAC BEAN(in very god condition)The company ELKINGTON & Co was founded by George Richards ELKINGTON (1800-1865), who worked in Birmingham from 1824 onwards, opening a branch in London in 1829. Towards the end of the 1830s the Elkington start experimental processes in the use of electro-metallurgy principles in gilding and silvering, the patent being finally obtained in 1840.Elkington owes his great success amongst the most important United Kingdom silversmiths, to the adoption of this new process and to the two most famous designers that he then employed, Albert WILMS (1827-1899) and MOREL-LADEUIL (1820-1888), both French nationals who, together, were important contributors for the building of Elkington's reputation, with their elaborate display pieces.The company was awarded various Royal Warrants in the United Kingdom as well as an Imperial and Royal Warrant by the Emperor of Austria.One of their most important pieces is the electrolyte copy of the Jerningham wine cooler in the Victoria & Albert Museum collection.
