Caitlin Flood-Molyneux Still Life, 2023 Ink on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) About Caitlin Flood-Molyneux is a contemporary Welsh Artist based in South Wales. Their artistic practice investigates the relationship between pop culture imagery and the way in which we attach emotion and memory to images and use this to narrate their subjective experiences of hardship. Developing from the visual styles of DADA and early Pop Art, the combination of found imagery alongside abstract painterly forms allows them to develop their own visual language. Their use of historical imagery is important, as it embodies the memories which the artist seeks to portray. Their work is both deeply personal and universal, as it charts key moments of their life; a private and enigmatic visual story with which Flood-Molyneux invites the viewer to forge their own connection. Education Caitlin Flood-Molyneux holds a Bachelor's of Fine Arts Degree from Cardiff Metropolitan University (also one year from Bergen Academy of Art and Design). Lucia Jones Lost Myself in Neon Leaves, 2023 Acrylic and gouache on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) About Lucia Jones is a painter based in Wales. Since graduating from Falmouth University in 2014, she has exhibited throughout the UK in solo and group exhibitions including BEEP Painting Prize 2018. Her work is held in private collections in the UK, USA, Austria and Hong Kong. Lucia's work explores the depiction of self and memory through the constructs of paint and film. Her most recent paintings primarily utilise cinematic source imagery from obscure 50s and 60s b-movies as a means to address the intangible nature of memory and the shifting impressions of lived moments. Impersonal and personal all at once, they allude to fragmented space whilst conjuring an internalised or other world; slivers of the imagined and real sit on the surface of the canvas serving as artefacts of the seen and the experienced. FRANK OWEN SALISBURY RP (1874-1962). Portrait of Miss Beatrice Hampson playing a cello, signed and dated 1944, oil on canvas, 56½x 40in. Exhibited : Society of Portrait Painters; Russell Cotes Museum and Art Gallery, BournemouthOne of the exhibition labels on the reverse of the painting somewhat enigmatically titled Pietro & Beatrice. 'Pietro' being a reference to Beatrice's cello which was made by Pietro Guarneri (Pietro da Venezia, 1695-1762) Beatrice Harrison was an English Cellist, and sister of the violinist May Harrison. A Life-long friend of the composer Frederick Delius, many of whose works for the instrument were written for her.Beatrice studied at the High School of Music, Berlin, under Hugo Becker. In 1910 she won the Mendelssohn award. Later she became Edward Elgar's preferred soloist for his Cello Concerto , which she recorded twice with Elgar in 1919 and 1928.In 1921 she gave the first festival performance of Edward Elgar's Cello Concerto outside London at the Three Choirs Festival in Hereford. In 1924 Beatrice was the subject of the first ever BBC live outside broadcast when she played the cello in her Surrey Garden , seemingly performing with an accompaniment of nightingales. In 1944 (the year in which this portrait was painted) Beatrice is said to have played a particularly memorable solo in a concert during Sir Henry Wood's final season in London.

* Heaney (Seamus, 1939-2013). Autograph Letter Signed, 'Seamus', Glanmore, Ashford, Co. Wicklow, 5 January 2004, to Rosemary [Goad] on personal stationery, wishing her good wishes for 2004, 'I should have written in 2003: just before Christmas I read Death in Holy Orders [by P.D. James] and wanted to shout an extra hurrah when I saw the book was dedicated to you. (I'm always behind with the books I should read - had been apprised of Dalgleish's Beowulf read at bedtime, but didn't want to page-hop to the Heaney reference). Anyhow, the book is indeed the "distinguished thing." Phyllis must be proud of it - such a page-turner but also so solidly peopled, and so subtly also. Great gumption and glue in the writing, and a bedrock sense of human nature... I am likely now to start doing a Yeats and making a habit of thrillers and detective stories. No westerns, though.... ', some toning to margins, 2 pages, 8vo, together with 2 further Autograph Letters Signed, 'Seamus', Dublin, 5 April 1995 & 13 April 1999, the first to Charles [Monteith] thanking him for his encouraging words about the Wilde piece, 'I was immensely flattered to be asked to do the address - and afflicted by a definite anxiety about how to go about it. Anyhow, the occasion was so heady that I almost forgot my own worries... ', 2 pp., the second to Rosemary [Goad], 'The reveries over childhood and youth make Reveries over Childhood and Youth the perfect cello music for this evening - even though I do refuse to believe that arithmetic dictates the age. A rousing present. Only you could get to the deep heart's love so lightly', 1 page, some marginal creasing and a few short splits not affecting text, both folio, plus a photograph of Enid Faber with Charles Monteith, Seamus and Marie Heaney, 15 x 20 cmQTY: (4)NOTE:Provenance: from the library of Rosemary Goad, the first female director of Faber and Faber.
