Sir Joshua Reynolds P.R.A. 1723-1792, Oil on Canvas, Portrait of Lady Standish (died 1780) wearing a white dress and black wrap, 29½ x 24½ (75 cms x 87.5 cms). Provenance: Painted for the sitter and by family descent to the present owner, previously of the Ramsden Family at Carlton Hall and later at Wigthorpe Hall. Lady Standish is recorder in the sitter's book for May 1755.
A Fine Quality Late 19th Century Mahogany Carlton House Desk. The curved raised top with pierced gallery rail adjoining down-swept hinged lids opening to reveal a pigeon hole interior. The back fitted with pigeon holes flanked by curved cupboard doors and cock-beaded drawers set in threes. The sliding top having an adjustable writing slope with tooled green leather insert. The one long & two short drawers with original brass handles standing on square tapered legs. 40¼ ins (102 cms) in height, 53¾ ins x 28½ ins (136.5 cms x 72.5 cms).
A Small & Unusual Painted Satinwood & Mahogany Carlton House Desk. The rosewood cross-banded borders inlaid with ebony & boxwood stringing and painted throughout with garlands of flowers. The top having a tooled leather insert, a raised back section fitted with two long drawers, and stepped side compartments housing spring-loaded swing-out drawers released via hidden catches within the frieze side drawers below. Standing on square tapering legs with brass caps and castors, 34 ins (86 cms) wide, 20½ ins (52 cms) deep and 32¼ ins (82 cms) high.
A Sheraton Revival Painted Satinwood Carlton-house Desk having rosewood cross-banded borders inlaid with stringing and decorated with painted Neo-classical urns, floral bouquets, musical instruments and chains of bell-flowers. The top having a writing slide with leather insert, a bank of small drawers to the back flanked by cupboards and locking rounded corner compartments with pierced slot apertures to the top, and stationary compartments either side with down-swept hinged lids enclosing stepped letter racks, pen & ink partitions. The frieze fitted with two drawers and standing on square tapering legs leading down to spade feet, 48 ins (122 cms) wide, 25 ins (64 cms) deep and 40 ins (102 cms) high.

Korea, unnamed, nearly extremely fine (2) £120-160 Sebastian Ernest Burke (spelling on paperwork) was born on 1 July 1929 at Carlton, Victoria. He enlisted into the Royal Australian Navy at Melbourne on 14 July 1947 for a period of 12 years. He served in the Korean War, 6 August-17 October 1951 aboard the destroyer H.M.A.S. Anzac with the rank of Leading Radio Electrical Mechanic. Sold with copied service details. £120-£160
