A large Tete Jumeau bisque headed doll, circa 1900, with fixed blue glass paperweight eyes, open mouth, moulded upper teeth, pierced ears, cork pate and original long brown ringlet wig on a fully jointed composition body with blue stamp to rear, wearing a white cotton frock, under clothes and leather shoes, red stamp to back of head. Height 66 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The dolls head appears to be in extremely good condition. We can see no evidence of any hairline cracks, chips, damage or restoration. The only minor issue is a small pink glaze loss around the left hand ear piercing hole. We cannot put a light inside the head as the cork pate appears to be fixed and we do not want to remove this. The jointed composition body appears to be in generally good order. The left hand facing hand has various paint losses to the thumb and 3 fingers. The little finger as a crude replacement. There are losses to the paint on the other side of the hand and also around the wrist. The right hand is in better condition with only minor paint scuffs. There are scratches to the legs. The clothing is in generally good condition. The shoes are a matching pair but both a little tired and scuffed.
