An SFBJ bisque head doll, with sleeping brown eyes and open mouth, exposing four teeth, incised SFBJ/60/Paris/3/0, on a composition body, 40 cm high, a cellulose baby doll, a miniature bisque head doll, with sleeping blue eyes, 14 cm high, and a Simon & Halbig bisque head doll, with sleeping brown eyes, incised S (star) H/1909/12/0/Germany, on a composition body, 18 cm high (4) Condition report Report by NG All of these dolls are suffering with moth damage. SFBJ 60 3/0: head grubby. Appears to be free of cracks. Sleeping eye mechanism working. Small slither around left eye. Porcelain very grainy. All fingers present, left foot complete, unable to remove boot from right foot. Some cracking in composition body. Simon & Halbig 1909 12/0, 17 cm high: joint and head loose. Hair glued to head. Again chip to corners of both eyes. Some losses to painted eyelids. Open mouth exposes four teeth, one appears to be cracked. Rubbing to nose. Pock marks in porcelain. Painted body with bubbles, paint chips to both hands. Some possible restoration to paint. Bisque head doll's house doll: with sleeping blue eyes, can open mouth. Most of paint to right eye lid missing, wig glued down. Some knocks to finger tips. Plastic body doll marked with tortoise between shoulder blades and 16/16 1/2, legs squashed.

Hertwig and Co. Sample box of Nanking Puppen Dolls: seven bisque shoulder head dolls arranged in graduated size, measuring 16-32 cm, in original green carboard box. Each with curly mohair wig, muslin body, bisque forearms and lower legs with painted shoes (all dark brown except for the smallest doll`s, which are red). As featured on page 13 of `Hertwig & Co. Archives 1890-1937` (Florence Theriault, Gold Horse Publishing, 2000) - believed to be the same set - which states `The dolls, model 500, were offered in [the] early 1900 catalog in thirteen sizes, but continued to be offered until the 1920`s in a more limited number of sizes`. Box measures 31x37cm, one side unattached, dolls appear G (one with a few holes to fabric), set lacks mouse, includes receipt dated 2001 for $748.75.
