Musical Automaton Organ Grinder by Gustave Vichy, c. 1880 With rare bisque character head modeled as a man with open-closed mouth and two rows of painted teeth, moulded moustache, incised lines, brown paperweight eyes, shaded eyelids and feathered brows, standing behind a model barrel organ with brass pipe aperture, the going-barrel movement inside playing two airs as the figure cranks the organ, looks from side to side and nods his head left and right as though watching the miniature dolls dance on the top, elegantlydressed in raspberry satin tailcoat with blue waistcoat, lace jabot, bowtie and matching hat trimmed with silk tassels, on velvet-covered base, height 24 in.
