Armand Marseilles bisque headed doll and box of vintage 20th century dolls

A good collection of dolls clothes, including Bebe dress in red and blue tartan with lace and long sleeves, 7 ½” (19cm), another in dusty pink with pleats to bodice and embroidered detail, others in lace, cream and black striped cotton, pink and black edged jacket, a good red cotton dress with lace trim for large French all-bisque doll, 6” (15cm), various whites/underclothes, nightdresses and more, (lot).

Large painted wooden peg doll, circa 1890, with painted features and short black hair style, jointed at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, and having painted lower arms and legs, 15” (38cm) tall, (condition: one foot loose/detached), together with a smaller peg doll, two small glazed china head dolls and two German bisque head dolls on cloth bodies, (6 items).

A rare Schmitt bisque head Bebe doll, French circa 1880, beautiful pale bisque head, fixed brown paper-weight eyes, feather brows, painted and shaded closed mouth, pierced ears, original cork pate and auburn wig, on a good jointed fixed wrist eight ball joint body, with crossed hammers on shield stamp, wearing antique cream dress with red stripes and polka dot pattern, straw bonnet, underclothes, socks and antique brown leather shoes, 15” (38cm) tall, incised ‘crossed hammers in shield’, SCH, 1, in 1878 Schmitt & Fils won a silver medal at the Paris Exposition for their Bebe dolls, (condition: head in perfect condition, one tiny wig flake to right temple, good original body with some slight wear).

Rare Lambert Jumeau bisque character head automata of ‘Little Girl with broken doll’, French circa 1890, the finely moulded 211 pale bisque Jumeau head having fixed squinting brown glass eyes, painted lashes and brows, open/closed crying mouth with moulded upper teeth, pierced ears and original brown wig, on a moulded carton body with wire and posed bisque arms, standing on a pink velvet base housing mechanism and start/stop lever and LB key, holding her handkerchief in left hand and dolls head in right with dolls body at her feet, wearing pink silk and lace dress. When wound the girl turns her head, nods and lifts her right arm, she then turns her head and brings other arm up lifting the handkerchief to her crying face, whilst playing a single air, 20” (51cm) tall including base, (condition: in excellent working order, head perfect, restoration to one finger, base recovered). The 200 series bisque automata heads where commissioned exclusively from Jumeau for Lambert and are extremely rare.

Armand Marseille mould 341 bisque head Dream Baby and mahogany cradle, German circa 1920, dome head with weighted blue glass eyes, painted features and closed mouth, on a five piece bent limbed baby body, wearing white cotton baby gown, underclothes and bonnet, with a Babies rattle, 11” (28cm) tall, (condition: good), in a good 19th century mahogany dolls rocking cradle, 18 ½” (47cm) long, (2 items).

‘Hartley Hall’ an imposing double fronted painted wooden dolls house, English circa 1875, the façade and sides painted in red brick effect, with large square bay windows to façade and further windows to sides, all with detailed moulded surrounds and sills, green painted front door with columned portico and large brass knob, carved pediment with denture detail and green painted pitched roof with two attic windows with arched metal roofs, on its original green painted stand with painted tiled pathway. Front opens in two wings to six rooms on three levels, hallway and landings with internal doors to each room, all rooms with a built in fireplace with moulded surrounds, ground floor kitchen with some remaining original woodgrain papers, tinplate cooking range, wooden dresser, table with two early chairs, good selection of kitchenalia and two early all original Grodnertal wooden dolls, 4” (10cm) tall (one with both legs detached), ground floor lounge with wooden furniture including tables, upright piano, chairs, sideboard, Art Nouveau clock and other pictures and ornaments, first floor rooms with a selection of furniture including a Waltershausen sewing table, brass Dutch chandelier, upholstered settee, armchair and chairs, various porcelain dogs, ornaments and more, top floor bedrooms including four beds, two cradles, various wooden furniture, tinplate Rock and Graner swing mirror on stand, various bisque dolls including gentleman in red felt uniform with moulded features, lady in pink silk gown and a group of bisque children, 53” (134cm) tall including base, 35 ½” (91cm) wide, 29” (74cm) deep, (condition: the façade is a lovely example however has suffered paint loss over the years).
