A US Army olive green linen combat shirt, with black and olive green shoulder patches for the 173rd Airborne Brigade and 1st Armoured Division (Old Ironsides), paratroops breast badge over “US Army” patch, and name patch “Joiner”. In freshly laundered and pressed condition. The vendor states that Joiner took part in the D day landing on Omaha beach, the shirt being later left in a laundry in Le Havre and never reclaimed, as the owner was later killed in action. It was retrieved when the laundry was demolished on redevelopment in the 1960s.

Kaye Don (1891-1981) World record breaking car & speedboat racer, personal items including a plaque presented by Dover Limited to Mr Kaye Don, Winner of the International Tourist Trophy, August 18th 1928, an Autodrome Montlhery Recordman enamel badge stamped on reverse Kay Don 46, a penknife stamped K.D. & a silver tiepin stamped K.D. in his personal box Provenance - The vendor was a friend of the wife of Kaye Don. Kaye Don served in England’s Army and Royal Flying Corps in WWI. A motorcycle racer before the war, he began car racing in 1920 and became the British Motor Racing Champion in 1928 and 1929. Kaye Don also held several World Water Speed Records in the 1930s and received the International Motor Yachting Union Medal.

Selection of Items Attributed to Regimental Sergeant Major “Jock” Hutton Rhodesian SAS, including a regimental mess plaque badge which was made from Rhodesian copper, mounted onto a wooden base which has ink signature on the back of RSM Hutton. Accompanied by brass and anodised regimental Beret / Collar badges and four tunic buttons, these are accompanied by a signed ticket stating these were from his personal collection. RSM “Jock” Hutton, first served with the Black Watch before joining the newly formed Parachute Regiment in 1943. He jumped during the Normandy landings. Wounded in France he returned to the UK before being posted to the Ardennes, he was taken prisoner of war but later escaped. He took part in the Rhine crossing. He stayed in the army and served in Palestine, Cyprus, Malaya, Singapore and Java. He moved to Rhodesia in the 1950’s and was involved with the Special Air Service (SAS). He stayed in Rhodesia until 1981.
1945 Dated British Royal Army Service Corps Airborne Beret Grouping consisting of maroon airborne issue beret fitted with brass regimental polished cap badge. Kangol Wear Limited makers details to the interior with 1945 date and WD arrow with Z date letter. Typical WW2 form with circular woven pattern to the top of the beret. Accompanying the beret is a mirror housed in the leather cover, worn wartime pattern paratrooper jump wings in uniform removed condition and brass regimental collar and shoulder titles.

To the side of the cap is an original American Civil War period corps badge. Interior retains the original leather sweatband with retailers silver leaf details and an inked name “W B Cale”. Good condition.
