WW1 British Medal Group to Acting Matron Katy Beaufoy, Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service. This very important group contains her original diaries, original photographs, archive research, book on her life, family history as well as her decorations: Queens South Africa Medal, 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal, all with original ribbons, Death Plaque and Scroll, Princess Christian's Army Nursing Service Reserve badge, number 689, Guild of St. Barnabas Medal. Matron Beafoy was drowned after HMHS Glenart Cstle was torpedoed on 26th March 1918 by U 56.

Group consists of his TD in box of issue, War medal and Defence medal with slip, identity disks, pair of Indian Div flashes, London Rifle Brigade and Rifle brigade cap badges, plus metal Rifle Brigade shoulder titles, Indian Army pattern Parachute wing on brass pinback mount and British hand embroidered Parachute wings, printed 44th Indian Div flash, OTS MHOW brass shoulder titles, pair, Photos, paperwork, address book, maps, Officers pay book and AB64. Written account of his service. Plus his wife's (ex ATS) War Medal, photo in ATS uniform, ARP WVS badge and Red Cross badge, written account of her service etc. All proceeds from the sale to go to the Royal British Legion.

Rare Welsh Regiment Collar Badge circa 1881-82, white metal wreath with Dragon to the centre. Two lug fittings to the reverse. Good condition. Churchill “History of the British Army Collar Badge”, page 181 Fig 1134. States that this badge is possibly a trial piece or worn by a Volunteer or Militia regiment.

Badge. Indian Army. 4th Madras Pioneers Victorian Officer’s pagri badge circa 1883-1903. A good scarce example of heavy gilt brass with applied brass back plate. A crown over a plinth, “Assaye” tablet and an oval of laurel sprays embellished with six battle honours scrolls of which two are blank. At the base of the laurels a scroll, “Madras Pioneers”. In the voided centre are crossed axes above the Elephant over “IV”. Original pin back. Gilt rubbed, some service wear. GC Formerly the 4th Madras Native Infantry, became the 64th Pioneers in 1903.
Badge. Indian Army. 39th Bengal Native Infantry Officer’s shoulder belt plate circa 1829-44. Fine example. Rich fire-gilt rectangular plate mounted with silver wreath enclosing strap “Bengal Nat. Infry.” with floreated “39” to centre. Ornate ended scroll above “Seringapatam”, another below “Volunteers”. Reverse retains original fixings, comprising two hooks at the top and two studs at the bottom. Complete with chamois liner. Silver mounts toned back otherwise VGC. 1857 mutinied, consequently disbanded late that year.

VGC 21st (Marine) Regiment of Bombay Native Infantry redesignated 121st Pioneers in 1903 and 10th (Marine) Battalion, 2nd Bombay Pioneers in 1922. Disbanded 10 years later in 1932.

Badge. Indian Army. 22nd Bombay Native Infantry Victorian helmet badge. A scarce pre 1903 die struck brass British made example. Imperial Crowned strap inscribed “Bombay Native Infantry”; “22” to voided centre. Two loops to reverse, one horizontal, one vertical. VGC Redesignated 122nd Rajputana Infantry under Kitchener’s 1903 reforms; then 6th Bn. 6th Rajputana Rifles in 1922.
Badge. Indian Army. Bareilly Contingent AFI Officer’s 1924 Birmingham hallmarked silver cap badge. Good example by JRG&S (JR Gaunt and Sons). Crossed SMLE rifles superimposed on a crowned oval laurel wreath which rests on a blue enamel scroll inscribed “Bareilly”. The letters AFI in the lower three angles of the crossed rifles. VGC Origins in the Naini Tal Volunteer Rifle Corps formed 26th July 1871.

Star surmounted by crown bearing elongated silver star mounted with gilt wreath and “Seringapatam” circlet, translucent green enamel bearing floreated “39”. Wires behind the crown, two horizontal loops to reverse. Tiny chip to enamel otherwise VGC. 1857 mutinied, consequently disbanded late that year.

Within a crowned laurel wreath, a strap inscribed “Punjab Infantry”; “5” to centre on burnished domed ground. Below the wreath a tri-part scroll inscribed “Punjab Frontier Force” Four screw posts to reverse. VGC Became 58th Vaughan’s Rifles in 1903. Became 58th Vaughan’s Rifles in 1903.

A scarce original early Elizabeth II period motor car badge, chromium plated Queen’s Crowned laurel wreath and badge mounted to an enamelled disc, these being the colours of the Regiment, maker’s details “J.R. Gaunt London made in England”. Chrome plated finish worn to base metal. PLEASE NOTE THIS BADGE HAS DAMAGE TO THE ENAMEL AND BASIC RESTORATION.

Within a Guelphic Crowned full oak wreath, a Maltese cross with ball finials to the tips and lions between the angles. To the centre, within a circlet inscribed “Garhwal Rifle Regiment”, a strung bugle. Four screw posts to reverse. VGC

Parachute Regiment Attributed Commanding Officer’s Red Beret. Worn by Lieutenant Colonel Peter Mandeville Aldersley Taylor MC & Bar, who commanded the 5th & 2nd Battalion Parachute Regiment in the early post war years. Comprising: Red Beret complete with cap badge, the interior with stamp Kangol Wear Limited 1946. Very Clean. Contained in a Bates service dress cap box addressed to “Lt Col P.M.A. Taylor MC HQ 2 Inf Div Coln RASC BAOR 34”. (2 items) Lieutenant Colonel Peter Mandeville Aldersley Taylor MC & Bar originally served in the ranks before being commissioned into the Queen’s Regiment. He was awarded the MC & Bar with 2/6th Bn and at the end of the war gained a permanent commission. In 1946 he became second-in-command of the 8/9th Parachute Battalion and saw service in Haifa with 6th Airborne Division. He commanded the 5th (Scottish) Parachute Battalion and later the 2nd Parachute Battalion in Germany. After breaking his leg while captaining the Para rugby team, he was medically downgraded. He transferred to the RASC and commanded a number of Royal Army Service Corps Units, one of these commands took him to Egypt during the Canal Zone crises.
