All keys present, but slightly slack canvas with slight undulations. Some scattered brittle age and impact cracks in a few areas, particularly associated with the edges of the stretcher bar. All stable and not elevated. Slight tight drying wrinkles give the surface a little texture (see raking light image). Scattered minor surface accretions including dark spots and a diagonal scuff mid top. Fairly even varnish, probably slightly yellowed.

A GEORGE II MAHOGANY TRIPOD TABLE CIRCA 1750 With a lobed and shell carved tilt top on a later birdcage and turned fluted pedestal with foliate carved legs and pad feet 77cm high, 94cm diameter Provenance: Sold in these rooms; Sale 14490, Property from the Phillip Lucas Collection, Spitalfields House, 2nd December 2021 Condition Report: Structurally sound. The feet have been built up.There are marks, scratches, splits, chips, knocks and abrasions consistent with age and use. The surface of the top has marks, indentations and scratches with some chipping to an old shellac layer which is visible by sight and touch. There are four visible filled holes to the top corresponding to the screws of the bearers to the underside of the table top. The top has repaired splits along the grain of the timber, they are parallel cracks from side to side across two of the scalloped lobes. Some scratching to the underside of the top. Engine number 50/31LX 0215.Sold with the V5C, 1997 MOT and a service invoice.The AJS Model 31 was also produced as the Matchless G12 by the same company. Designed by Phil Walker, AMC knew that it had to be a 650cc but wanted to use as many cycle parts as possible from the preceding 600cc Matchless G11, which had been badge-engineered as the AJS Model 30. The cylinders could not be bored out further, so the stroke was lengthened from 72.8mm to 79.3mm, increasing capacity to 646cc. That meant developing a new crankshaft and primary chaincase, which also provided the opportunity to add a Lucas alternator. Volume production began in September 1958.YSY was restored over 12 years ago by an AJS/Matchless enthusiast. Both engine and frame/tinware were overhauled. Our vendor states that it has only done 19 miles since and was the stored for over 12 years. A new battery has been fitted and all electricals are working, it will most likely need some light commissioning.

Established as a Victorian bicycle-maker, the company began under the name of Hotchkiss, Mayo & Meek. The name was changed to Coventry Eagle in 1897 when John Meek left the company. By 1898, they had begun to experiment with motorised vehicles and by 1899 had produced their first motorcycle. The motorcycles were hand-built with a high standard of finish. Coventry-Eagle motorcycles proved reliable and by the Great War the range was utilising Villiers and JAP engines. First registered on 12th April 1932, 'AHK 26' was stripped for restoration by the current keeper around 30 years ago. Regrettably offered for sale due to health reasons, the Silent Superb has formed part of the vendor’s collection of classic cars and motorcycles but is believed to have lost its Villiers engine during the restoration process and its whereabouts are unknown. Still registered with the DVLA and provided with its buff logbook, this rare machine is to be sold with no reserve. It had an engine based on the Li150 series but with an increased capacity and the crankshaft, barrel, piston and gearbox ratio were changed. The front forks were fitted with external shock absorbers. The rear plate and fork links were redesigned to cope with the extra power. The TV175 models were fitted with a Veglia 120km/h or 70mph speedometer face and a dual seat. The ‘Lambretta’ and ‘TV175’ side panel badges were attached to the panels with small nuts as opposed to the riveted badges on the Series 2 Li panels. Often referred to as the ‘tourer’ it had a superb performance coupled with beautiful styling and has been hugely sought after for many years by collectors. Offered here, this Lambretta TV175 is a Series 2 with the engine number 175TV2 129984. We are advised the scooter is running ‘very well’ and has been in regular use by the vendor. The original TV175 barrel and carburettor are still fitted and there several tasteful accessories that are also present on the scooter. ‘OSV’ is offered with a current V5C for use on UK roads. That machine, the R23, sported the famous flat-twin boxer configuration with which BMW is now synonymous. By the 1970s, BMWs had become the most popular bikes for long-distance touring due to their torquey engines and shaft-drive transmissions. With their solid design and renowned reliability, ‘Airheads’ of the ’70s and ’80s have become one of the most popular bikes for turning into ‘brat bikes’ or ‘café racers’ in recent years, so it's rare to find one in such original condition. First registered on 12th August 1977, 'VLW 641S' was purchased by the vendor's husband in 1987 from the original owner, as a very low-mileage machine, with the MOT certificate from the time displaying only 600 miles on the odometer. Having a collection of various roadworthy and project motorcycles, the owner then put the BMW into dry storage only two years after purchase, with only 1,600 miles on the odometer. Unfortunately, the vendor’s declining health forces the sale of his collection. Now offered at no reserve, this R60/7 is a fantastic opportunity for a rewarding recommissioning project. Erste Ausgabe der ersten schwedischen Vollbibel, veranlasst von König Gustav I. Wasa und nach diesem so benannt. Schweden war erst seit 1523 von Dänemark unabhängig geworden. Gustav I. Wasa wurde auf dem Reichstag von Västerås 1527 an Stelle des Papstes zum Oberhaupt der schwedischen Staatskirche bestimmt. Dies führte zu Spannungen mit Rom, die bei der Einsetzung von Laurentius Petri - dem Bruder von Stockholms Reformator Olaus Petri - zum ersten evangelischen Erzbischof von Upsala kulminierten und zum Bruch mit Rom führten. Die Reformation breitete sich danach in Schweden rasch aus, ab 1531 wurde in den Kirchen auf Schwedisch gepredigt. In diesem Zusammenhang steht der Auftrag des Königs an Olaus und Laurentius Petri sowie Laurentius Andreae, die ganze Bibel ins Schwedische zu übertragen. Zuerst wurde 1526 das Neue Testament übersetzt und herausgebracht, 1541 folgte dann die vorliegende Vollbibel, die sich eng an Luthers Bibelübersetzung hielt. Der Hauptteil der Übersetzungsarbbeit wurde von Laurentius Andreae (um 1470 - 1552) gemacht, der auf dem Reichstag von Strängnäs 1523 Gustav Wasa zum schwedischen König ausgerufen hatte, dessen Sekretär er danach wurde, mit dem er sich aber bald überwarf. Diese Übersetzung war für die Normatierung der schwedischen Sprache von allergrösster Wichtigkeit. Erst mit ihr gelang es, eine verbindliche Rechtschreibung in Schweden durchzusetzen. Die Gustav-Wasa-Bibel ist das umfangreichste im 16. Jh. in Schweden gedruckte Buch. Als Drucker hatte man den Lübecker Jürgen Richolff (1494-1573) berufen, der bereits 1526 das Neue Testament gedruckt hatte. Richolff kam einzig für diesen gewaltigen Druckauftrag nach Schweden zurück; die Drucklegung erstreckte sich über die beiden Jahre 1540.-1541. Die Bibel gilt als typographisches Meisterwerk. Der Bildschmuck der Bibel ist von Georg Lemberger nach Vorlagen von Lucas Cranach d. Ä. gemacht. Kein gutes Exemplar. Es fehlen 44 Blätter ganz, insbesondere zu Beginn und am Schluss. Einige vorliegende Blätter zum Teil herausgeschnitten. Zahlreiche Blätter mit alt geklebten Rissen, teils auch unterlegt, davon auch einige Holzschnitte betroffen. Durchgehend stark finger- und schmutzfleckig. Seitlich etwas knapp beschnitten, mit etwas Verlust bei den gedruckten Marginalien. Handschriftliche Marginalien von verschiedenen Händen und aus verschiedenen Zeiten. - Offensichtlich von grosser Seltenheit. Der Swedish Union Catalogue weist einzig 14 Exemplare in öffentlichen schwedischen Bibliotheken nach. - ╔Die erste schwedische Vollbibel.╗

Die männlichen und weiblichen Mitglieder der verschiedenen Zweige des Hauses Fugger sind teils im Rechteck, teils im Oval in halber Figur dargestellt. - "Mit dem Weber Hans F. aus Graben am Lechfeld wurde die Familie 1367 in Augsburg ansässig. Schon seine Söhne Andreas der Reiche (Stammvater der F. vom Reh) und Jakob I. (Stammvater der F. von der Lilie) wandten sich vom Weberhandwerk dem Handel mit Webwaren und Metallen zu. In der nächsten Generation ließen sich die F. vom Reh auf Darlehen an Maximilian I. ein und gingen in Konkurs; die F. von der Lilie stiegen mit Jakob II., dem Reichen, und dessen Neffen Anton zur herrschenden Finanzkraft in Europa auf. Jakob der Reiche, Kaufmann (1459-1525), Sohn von Jakob d. Ä. und der Barbara Bäsinger, Tochter eines Münzmeisters. Als jüngster Sohn für den geistlichen Stand bestimmt, wurde Jakob F. erst nach dem Tod eines Bruders in die kaufmännische Lehre gegeben. Seine Ausbildung erfolgte z. T. in Italien, wo er sich den frühkapitalistischen Wirtschaftsstil aneignete, von den geistigen Bewegungen der Renaissance und des Humanismus aber kaum Notiz nahm... Anton F., Handelsherr, * Augsburg 10.06.1493, ┼ ebd. 14.09.1560, Sohn des Georg F. (1453-1506), Mitbegründer der Gesellschaft und deren langjähriger Vertreter in Nürnberg, und der Regine Imhof. Mit dem Individualismus und Rationalismus des neuzeitlichen Unternehmers, seiner Unermüdlichkeit und kaufmännischen Begabung für die geschickte Verbindung von Politik und Kapital hatte Jakob der Reiche die Erweiterung des Familienbesitzes zu einer das städtische Gemeinwesen sprengenden, im Staatsleben wirksamen Größe erreicht. Sein Neffe Anton, der eine harte Ausbildung in der Zentrale und in verschiedenen Filialen (u. a. Ofen) hinter sich hatte, übernahm das Erbe einer zu starken Bindung an die Habsburger und versuchte vergeblich der damit verbundenen Krise zu entgehen. Er finanzierte die Auseinandersetzung Karls V. mit den Türken, dem französischen König, dem Papst und den protestantischen Reichsständen, er verhalf Ferdinand zur böhmisch-ungarischen Königswahl, gewährte ihm 1528 für Salzkonzessionen im siebenbürgischen Erzgebirge Hilfsgelder gegen die Pforte und half ihm bei der Türkenabwehr 1529... Mit Einfallsreichtum und Unternehmergeist hat der "König der Kaufleute" bis zu seinem Tod im September 1560 die Firma geführt, obwohl die Interessenlosigkeit seiner Söhne und Neffen gegenüber Handel, Bergbau und politischem Finanzgeschäft ihn überzeugt hatte, daß die Gesellschaft der Auflösung entgegenging. Seither lebten die F. wie adelige Mäzene von dem erheblichen Grundbesitz der Familie, der ursprünglich als krisenfeste Vermögensanlage angekauft worden war" (U. M.
