A George V Silver Tea Kettle on Stand, by Harrison Bros. & Howson, Sheffield 1928, with gadroon, shell and scroll mounts, ebonised handle and finial and on paw feet, 11.5ins high, gross weight 39ozs, and plated burner for same Good gauge of silver. Kettle - Deep rim of kettle - small dent and scratch. A few scattered minor dents to the body. Hallmarks well struck on the bulbous section of the body.Stand - small dent at the top of one of the legs. Marks well struck on the rim. Fixing pins are present and marked accordingly.Spirit burner - plated. One large and a few smaller dents to bulbous section.

A George V Silver Coffee-Pot, by George Howson, Sheffield, 1911 in the George I-style, tapering cylindrical and with part turned-wood side handle, the hinged cover with baluster finial15cm high, gross weight 12oz 1dwt, 374grFully marked on side near handle and further part marked inside cover. The marks are generally clear. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There is some loss to the finish and a minor chip to the wood handle.

Shilvock Dr Shilvock (1905-1971) knew all the Howson Taylor family and most of the workers at the Ruskin Pottery. His general practice was in Warley, very close to the Ruskin Pottery in Smethwick.
