The inside of back case with model number 6567, corresponding to model number engraved between lugs at 12 o`clock. The serial number engraved between lugs at 6 o`clock is 261333. The movement numbered N693665. Fitted with a later black croc effect leather strap.

EISENHOWER DWIGHT D.: (1890-1969) American General of World War II, later American President 1953-61. An unusual wartime D.S., Dwight D Eisenhower, one page, 4to, n.p., 2nd March 1944. The document is an original carbon copy of a typed letter from Lt. Col. Ernest R. Lee to H. G. Darling, manager of The Chase National Bank in London. Lee thanks Darling for a receipt and continues 'The following officers besides General Eisenhower and myself, will be permitted at any time to withdraw the silver salver: Commander Harry C. Butcher, USNR, Lt. Colonel J. F. Gault (British Army). If facsimile signatures are required I will be glad to obtain them for you.' The letter is authentically signed in blue fountain pen ink by Eisenhower at the foot in his capacity as General of the US Army. Accompanied by a typed copy of a receipt giving further details of the salver, 'engraved as follows "General Dwight D. Eisenhower Commander in Chief, Allied Forces, North Africa, 8th November 1942 to 8th January 1944. A token of admiration and affection from some British officers of Allied Force Headquarters.'
