After Auguste Moreau - a pair of late 19th Century French brown patinated cast bronze figures, one of Neptune holding a trident and standing beside a seahorse, the other of Venus standing beside a dolphin, each circular base with cast signature `Ate Moreau`, raised on slate bases with applied beaded bands, heights approx 50cm and 47cm.

An eight-day longcase clock movement with 10 inch square dial, Late 17th/early 18th century. The four finned pillar inside countwheel bell striking movement with anchor escapement and 10 inch square brass dial with calendar aperture and subsidiary seconds dial within an applied silvered Roman numeral chapter ring, later skeletonised and with stylised trident half hour markers and with Arabic five minutes within the narrow outer track, the angles with winged cherub head cast spandrels, (lacking hands, pendulum and weights).

An extensive Meissen blanc de chine Centrepiece of Neptune and Thetis (Royal Commissioned Model After Kandler) bearing the Royal Crest of Friedrich Augustus and modelled as two hippocampi drawing a clam chariot bearing Neptune and Thetis, with two sea nymphs, dolphins, a putto, amidst waves and clam shells etc (created as four separate pieces, the base now joined beneath by two bolts), half of base impressed Neptune No 1 on the top and 1 11 beneath with underglaze blue cross swords and incised No 1; the second half of the base with crowned FA over 4 in underglaze blue on the back impressed 86 and incised No 1 on top and underglaze blue crossed marks below, attendant nymph impressed 121, incised N1 and underglaze blue crossed swords; Neptune and Thetis impressed 86, incised N1 and underglaze blue cross swords (condition: three crown pigs missing to rear and one chip to front; one finger restored on attendant nymph; trident haft replacement; other minor losses), probably likely to have been a gift to Admiral of the Fleet Sir Gerard H Noel GCB, 18” high and 23” wide (SEE PHOTOGRAPH)
A Charles II brass lantern clock Unsigned, circa 1660 The posted countwheel bell-striking movement with separately wound trains and reinstated verge escapement with brass balance wheel, the dial engraved with central rose and four symmetrically arranged sunflower heads within an applied silvered Roman numeral chapter ring with trident half hour markers, the `Lothbury` type frame castings with vase finials and ball feet beneath `dolphin` frets and bell contained within a domed bearer above, (lacking weights), 38cm (15ins) high. DESCRIPTION TO BE READ IN CONJUNCTION WITH ‘IMPORTANT NOTES REGARDING THE CATALOGUING OF CLOCKS’ printed in the sale catalogue or available from the auctioneers on request. Provenance: The estate of a private collector. The engraved decoration to the dial on the current lot is perhaps a little unusual being of symmetrical layout. However it is boldly executed with confident deep cuts into the dial plate in a manner similar in feel to some mid 17th century London work. The frame castings are of typical `Lothbury` pattern, used during the second period (1640-60) and early third period in London (as described by George White in his 1989 publication English Lantern Clocks).

The Battle of Belleisle or Quiberon Bay, Admiral Hawke`s Victory, silver medal, 1759, by James Kirk, to the order of the Society of Arts and Commerce, Britannia seated on a sea-horse, armed with trident and shield, rev figures of Night and Tempest shield Britain from an attacking France, 40mm (MI 706/441; MH 364). Very fine and scarce. Admiral Edward Hawke (1705-1781). His victory at Quiberon Bay prevented an invasion by the French. The medal was formerly (Hawkins) attributed to be the work of Thomas Pingo.
