Obverse nearly very fine, the reverse considerably rubbed in centre, very rare. The example listed in MI is bi-metallic, having a copper border to a brass centre. Provenance: Bt. eBay, January, 2005.

[On 2 Sheets] England and Wales Drawn from the Most Accurate Surveys Containing All the Cities Boroughs Market Towns & Villages... Large and magnificent four sheet map filled with remarkable details down to the smallest village. The map shows hundreds of roads with distance information between towns. The legend identifies numerous physical features through icons for towns and villages by size, local markets, astronomical observation sites, and more. The large title cartouche with fancy lettering depicts Britannia holding a staff with the liberty cap, Athena, Hermes, an angel with a harp and a book of Shakespeare, a lion with a trident, surveying instruments, a globe, etc. The seas are embellished with numerous sailing ships and a fine compass rose. The imprint of Robert Sayer Map & Printseller at the Golden Buck in Fleet Street appears below the neatline at bottom. As issued with two sheets joined to form a two-part map. When top and bottom are joined, the map will measure approximately 39 x 46"". A nice impression with attractive color and minor soiling. There are a few short fold separations and edge tears that enter about 1"" to 2"" into map that have been closed on verso with archival material. There are pale blue shadows along the folds which are caused by our scanner and to not appear on the map itself. 38.9"" W x 23"" H . Rocque, John . 1761
Magni Ducatus Finlandiae Russiae Partim, Partim Sueciae Subjecti; Sinus Item Bothnici ac Finnici Nova et Accurata Delineatio Calamo et Sumtibus . This superb map covers the lower half of Finland, where the nation touches the Gulf of Bothnia and the Gulf of Finland. It includes part of western Sweden, the northern coast of present-day Estonia, and a portion of Russia. There is excellent detail of the mountainous terrain and the network of waterways, and many towns and cities are identified. The elegant title cartouche features the greater coat of arms of Sweden, Neptune with his trident, Fortuna with her scale, and other allegorical figures. This state features Lotter`s imprint. India Sikh History A rare large red wax court seal from the Princely Sikh State of Jind. Thick wax seal with in intact condition depicting Chamunda and the state crest of Jind on one side and Nastaliq and central script surrounded by Gurmukhi text on the outer edge. Chamunda is closely associated with Kali having four^ eight^ ten or twelve arms^ she is often depicted holding a Damaru (drum)^ trishula (trident)^ sword^ and panapatra (drinking vessel^ wine cup) or skull-cup (kapala) filled with blood. The princely state of Jind was founded in 1763 and its rulers belonged to the Phulkian dynasty. In 1887 Ranbir Singh became maharaja in 1911 and continued to rule the state until its accession to India in 1947. His exact title was His Highness Farzand-i-dilband Rasikh-ul-itikad Daulat-i-englishia Raja-i-rajgan Maharaja Sir Ranbir Singh Rajendra Bahadur and this is clearly written on the outer edge in Romanised text circumnavigating the image of Chumunda.1 cm thick and 9.5cm in diameter.
A rare gilt brass mid-sized carriage timepiece with bottom wind, Le Roy and Fils, Paris, late 19th century, The eight-day single train movement with silvered platform lever escapement and wound via contrate wheel connected to a large fixed key engraved LE ROY & FILS, PATENT 9501 fitted within the underside of the case, the backplate stamped 7298 and with rectangular white Roman numeral enamel dial with blued steel trident hour hand and signed LE ROY & FILS, 57 New Bond Street, MADE IN FRANCE, Palais-Royal, PARIS to lower margin, the bevel glazed gilt brass corniche type case with hinged carrying handle, 12.5cm (5ins) high excluding handle. The firm of Le Roy & Fils can be traced back to 1785 when the business was founded by Basille Charles Le Roy at 60 Galerie de Pierre, Palais Royal, Paris. During the Revolutionary years the firm relocated to 88 Rue de LEgalite before finally settling at Galerie Montpensier, 13 and 15 Palais Royal. In 1828 Basille Charles died leaving the business to his son, Charles-Louis, who continued producing clocks signed Le Roy & Fils until 1845 when the firm was sold to his former employee Casimir Halley Desfontaines; who in turn was succeeded by his son M. George Halley Desfontaines in 1883. In 1888 M. George Halley died leaving the business to his brother Jules Halley who then took-in as a partner Louis Leroy (apparently no relation to the founders of the firm). In 1899 the firm left Palais Royal and moved to Boulevard de La Madeleine where it continued trading in the hands of various successors until well into the 20th century. The keyless bottom-wind system fitted to the current lot is described in Allix, Charles CARRIAGE CLOCKS, Their history and development pages 219-21.
