Sarah married Daniel Fripp on 12th October, 1818, at Westbury-on-Trym, Gloucestershire. The quotations read: 'Kindness. The gentle offices of patient love,/Beyond all flattery and all price above,/The mild forbearance of another's fault,/The taunting words suppress'd as soon as thought:/On these heaven bade the bliss of life depend,/And crush'd ill Fortune when he made a Friend/'; 'On Education. If Good we plant not, Vice will fill the mind,/And weeds despoil the space for flowers design'd/The human heart ne'er knows a state of rest;/Bad tends to worse, and better leads to best:/We either gain or lose, we sink or rise, Nor rests our struggling Nature till she dies.' A 1960 Austin 152 (J2) Paralanian motor caravan, registration number 778 HYD, chassis number J2CA60908, engine number 15JCN18800, cream/brown. The Paralanian built by Central Garages of Bradford at their Parry Works' premises, was Britain's first new generation of coach built motor caravans. It was the idea of works director, Clifford Hobson, who drew inspiration from his time with motor cabin cruisers and torpedo boats. The new hobby of motor caravanning was the preserve of the well heeled as a Paralanian cost the price of a three bedroom semi detached house at its launch and would remain a luxury purchase. This time warp example has covered only 31,000 miles from new. The first owner having seen the promotional vehicle at the 1960 Caravan Show at London's Earls Court placed an order and subsequently received one of the first van's after he had parted with £1,251. The first custodian would use the van until 1977, when sadly the owner's wife passed away and the vehicle would be put into storage in a barn, where it would remain until 1993, when it was purchased by a John and Margaret Lewis, who were friends of the first owner. There would be two further changes of owner until our vendor acquired the Austin in 2006. The van is very original with a wonderful preserved interior, having its original stove, sink, upholstery and fittings. The exterior coachwork was originally two tone grey, has been repainted to tan cream and cream and brown at some point. This charming and rare motor caravan, would be just the thing for the Goodwood Revival or other festivals, and is offered with a history file. V5C, MOT to October 2017 See illustrations Condition report NH: The car runs and will be driven to auction.
