DECORATED BRIDE'S BOX. Bentwood with laced seams. The lid has a handcolored decoupaged lithograph of a couple under an arch with Psyche & Cupid. The rest of the box has colorful hand painted flowers on an orange/red ground. Branded on the bottom SH in a heart. Minor damage and a repaired split in the lid. 12 1/4 x 18 1/4. 7 1/4h.

A .41” RF Webley type SS derringer pistol, 4¾” overall, barrel 2¾” with B’ham proofs and engraved on the left breech flat with “SM” (or SH) monogram, numbererd 30, all steel frame with barrel release button beneath, sheath trigger, plain walnut grips. GWO & C (metal work cleaned, one grip repaired). See “The Webley Story” by Dowell, Plate 25a for a very similar pistol with plated brass frame. Plate 12

A William & Mary chinoiserie porringer and cover, with beaded s-scroll handles, a campana form bowl and a small stepped circular foot, the cover with a flattened dome and a reeded rim, centred by a knop finial and the whole decorated with flat chased figures, birds and flowering plants, centred on one side by a wreath cartouche with a pricked crest below another engraved crest, the base scratched with two sets of initials: 'W' over 'IR' and 'KF', maker's mark 'SH' [linked] in a pelleted circle London 1689 5.7in (14.4cm) diameter, 6.75in (17.2cm) high, 23oz. See Jacksons Revised pp.137 for this mark as seen on an alms dish, flagon and a tankard, 1684-91.
