ERNEST WALDRON WEST (1904-1994). 'The Last Supper', oil on canvas, 72 x 178 1/2in. The painting is believed to have been commissioned from the artist by St Mary's Convent, Worcester in the early 1950's. A preliminary sketch for this painting was offered for auction in a sale by Brightwells, Leominster on 9th November 2011, Lot 134. Ernest Waldron West worked as an artist in Worcestershire for much of his life. A pupil of Sir Frank Brangwyn RA, he became well known as a portraitist working from a studio on Sansome Walk, Worcester. He had wide ranging artistic interests.
