AN EARLY 20TH-CENTURY ROYCROFT (EAST AURORA, NEW YORK) THREE-PIECE PLANISHED COPPER DESK SET comprising pen tray, 18.3cm, (7.25in) wide, a stationery rack, 11.7cm, (4.6in) high and an inkstand, 7.5cm square x 4cm high, (3in x 1.6in), each with orb and greek cross stamp beneath (3) *** Elbert Hubbard established the Roycroft Press in the 1890s, after meeting William Morris and seeing his Kelmscott Press on a walking tour of England. By 1915, 500 worked at the arts community under the motto "Not how cheap, but how good". Hubbard and his wife drowned in the 1915 Lusitania tragedy.
AN ARNOLD DOLMETSCH (HASLEMERE, SURREY) SINGLE MANUAL HARPSICHORD, having a canted triangular body, stamped ", stamped "545" within circular mark "ARNOLD DOLMETSCH", "1950" beneath, five octaves, with yew and ebony pedal keys, 103cm x 98cm x 81cm high, (40.5in x 38.6in x 32in), sold with soft-cover **** Arnold Dolmetsch, (1858-1940) was an important figure in the revival of early music in the early 20th century. In 1898 he made the "Green Harpsichord" for an Art & Crafts Society Exhibition, at the suggestion of William Morris. He was a leading advocate in the reintroduction of the now ubiquitous recorder into school music-making.

Autograph letter signed, on headed notepaper, to Bookland and Company, June 22, 1966, revealing letter concerning Blyton's book "The Child Who Was Chosen", and her thoughts regarding adoption, "I was asked to write a story for children, which would tell them the facts of their adoption, so that they might know how and why they were chosen and would feel proud and happy being chosen by a family who were glad to welcome them. They then feel as safe and as secure as any other child & didn't worry about themselves.
