Wiggins (Joseph, explorer 4pp., 8vo, Palace Hotel, Aberdeen, 11th July 1895, explaining why he should not review the book [Ice Bound on Kilguev] by the Arctic explorer Trevor Battye (1855-1922), partly because of his own preparations for leaving on his last voyage to Siberia and because the "whole thing SEEMS so absurd - and his [Battye`s] being left on that Is[lan]d so mysterious an affair when he ought to have been taken off by his companion", that he fears that any review he could write would not be taken well, particularly any strictures he might write about the passages concerning Russian officials which seem insulting or at least injudicious, folds. ***Letters by Wiggins are rare; he travelled to Kilguev Island in 1875. Henry Currie Marillier (1865-1951), friend and correspondent and possibly lover of Oscar Wilde, journalist, expert on tapestries and scientific correspondent of The Pall Mall Gazette; Managing Director of Morris & Co., and a benefactor of the Bodleian Library. .

An early 20th Century gentleman`s nine carat rose gold cased Fob Watch, the silvered dial with engine turned centre, Roman numerals and subsidiary second hand, with engraved monogram to back of case, sold together with original hand written provenance detailing the watch was originally owned by Dr Arthur D Morris M.D.
