The first title is offered in a very good dustwrapper with a little wear to the spine extremities and corners, a touch of rubbing to the joints and a very slightly marked lower panel. An Edwardian oak and brass inlaid library table, circa 1905 in the manner of Lorimer, with a leather inset top, on twist carved legs h.74cm., w.2m., d.124cm. For a comparative lot, see lot 367 sold by Sotheby's London, 10th November 2000.. Both the form of this lot, and that of the present lot, relates to an old refectory table designed by the celebrated Arts and Crafts architect and co-founder of Morris & Co., Philip Webb (1831-1915). This was designed in the 1870's for Sir Lowithian Bell's dining room at Rounton Grange, Yorkshire.. The design was derived from 17th century prototypes and commissioned by the Hon.
