A Channel Islands mid-19th century needlework sampler, by 'Elizabeth Ann Renouf Her work 11 Years old in the Year of our Lord 1850', depicting Adam and Eve and a pair of lions beneath the tree of life, surrounded by birds, fruit and flowering urns, within a floral meander border, 23 x 24¼in. (58.5 x 62.25cm.), mounted within an oak fire screen. * Condition: Some time staining and water stain marking to ivory linen ground. Colours slightly muted but remain good overall. Patched hole towards upper left corner and small hole to centre right above tree. Some stitches missing to tree trunk and grass to left, plus a few others elsewhere. 1930s firescreen has some scratching and wear to polish.
