An early 20th century open faced chronograph pocket watch for the Russian Imperial Navy, the silver dial signed Longines, with outer 1/5th seconds track, black Roman numerals, gold Breguet hands, subsidiary seconds dial and 30 minute register, the chronograph lever movement no. 19.73.N, the case back with Cyrillic inscription (trans: ‘Main Hydrographic Department / Admiralty’) and ‘no.407’ above engraved anchor, the cuvette signed ‘Aug. Ericsson no.2963018’, circa 1910, the case 53mm diameter. August Ericsson (1842-1910) was a noted Swedish watchmaker and retailer in St Petersburg, Russia. He supplied high quality watches to the Csar and the Imperial Navy MOVEMENT: half plate straight line club tooth lever movement, with bimetallic split balance and flat balance spring, visible chronograph work on the top plate. Movement functioning at time of cataloguing. Chronograph function not resetting exactly on 12, but working. CASE: Good solid case with wear commensurate with age. DIAL: a few spots of pitting on dial and paint work on numerals a little flaky. Crystal good.
A rare Omega silver open faced chronograph pocket watch, the three piece case with white enamel dial with outer 1/5 seconds tachometer track, black Roman numerals, gold spade hands, subsidiary seconds dial and semi instantaneous 15 minute register, keyless winding with stop/start reset push piece within the pendant button, the lever movement signed Omega no. 4364436, the case import marked London 1913, 38mm MOVEMENT: three quarter plate frosted gilt straight line lever escapement, bimetallic split balance, Breguet overcoil balance spring, and visible chronograph work on the top plate, movement and chronograph function working nicely at time of cataloguing CASE: hallmarked on inner front cover, cuvette, and pendant ring. Inner front cover also marked with sponsors mark SA in diamond cartouche. Light surface scratches to the case, some tarnish and dirt to the inner bezel DIAL: VG, no apparent damage. A little tarnishing to the hands.
