Extremely rare Panerai Dealers Clock in the style of their 'Scuderia Rattrapante' wristwatch.Extremely rare Panerai Rattrapante dealers clock, which was never offered for sale to the public and to only authorised Panerai Horometrie Suisse dealers. The clock's dial features 3 chronograph sub-dials with Ferrari yellow hands, and black steel luminescent hour and minute hands. Of course, the Ferrari subdial hands are in a fixed position and are not functional. The clock is powered by a precision quartz movement and is keeping perfect time. It is the finish that you would expect on a clock of the calibre. The precision quartz movement, at temperatures between 14 degrees Fahrenheit to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, has an accuracy of +/- 0.45 to +/- 0.55 seconds per day, due to the precise crystal frequency of the movement at 32.768 kHz. The operating voltage of the movement is 1.3 to 1.65 volts dc and an average current of 150 microamps at 1.5 volts dc. This accuracy is all accomplished by the Jurgen Bolsche Swiss Made movement, calibre 5820 that requires one LR6 (standard AA battery), which will power the clock for 1 year until a replacement is needed. This is a rare opportunity to purchase a large Panerai Ferrari wall clock, perfect for the office or study of any Ferrari enthusiast! Please contact Shan Stokes on 07890 0933372 / shan@silverstoneauctions.com to discuss the lot in more detail. When Ducommun died in 1936, he was replaced by Jacques Nardin, grandson of the famous watchmaker, Ulysse Nardin. Doxa returned to the battlefield in World War II with a series of popular chronographs used by German aviators and this example may well be one of these pieces. Doxa continued a strong association with Germany after the war, supplying the German World Cup football team with gold watches, and in the 1975 film, 'Three Days of the Condor', Robert Redford wears a Doxa watch. Billed as a wrist-sized computer when it was first developed in 1952, the rotating bezel has the ability to compute distance travelled, flight time, airspeed, and remaining fuel consumption, due to the integration of a slide rule. In 1956, Breitling introduced the Venus 178 manually-wound chronograph movement which would continue to be used until the early 1970s. Eight years later, Breitling changed the dial layout of the Navitimer, most likely adapting to changing tastes and increasing legibility in low-light conditions. The now-iconic “reverse panda” configuration with black dial and white subdials was introduced in 1963 and in 1964, the bezel edge changed from a bead edge to a milled edge. Another stylistic change was the introduction of the “twin jet” logo, with ‘Breitling Genève’ below. With the majority of cases produced in stainless steel, a small number were produced with gold-plated cases, and an even smaller number in 18ct gold. The iconic Breitling Genève Navitimer 806 still remains today near the top of virtually every vintage watch collector's wish list.
