The case back with engraved monogram 'LR', to gold cuvette with presentation inscription 'Presented to County Councillor Levi Rees, by the inhabitants of Cwmllynfell & Cwmtwrch, as a token of regard & in recognition of his valuable public services, 6th July 1891'. Movement signed W Williams, 29 Castle St, Swansea, no. 94289. Birmingham 1890, 180.41gLevi Rees was headmaster of schools in Cwmllynfell & Cwmtwrch, before retiring from teaching to take up a post at Brynhenllys Colliery. He became one of the leading colliery proprietors in the Swansea valley and maintained a very active public life, serving as County Councillor for Brecon for seven years, and on various local school boards. An article in the South Wales Daily News, dated 8th July 1891, mentions the gift of the gold watch: "...in the evening a meeting was held, presided over by Dr Howell Rees, J.P., Cwmamman, at which Councillor Rees was presented with a handsome gold watch and chain, two pairs of gold-rimmed spectacles, a purse of gold, and an illuminated address as a slight recognition of the valuable services which he has rendered in this and the neighbouring districts during the last 40 years."Currently running. Gentleman's Asprey gold chronograph wristwatch with manual wind movement, the circular gold dial with two subsidiary dials recording the seconds and minutes, in 9ct gold case on a brown crocodile leather strap, in original box. Case approximately 34mm.The watch is currently running and the functions appear to be working and adjust correctly. The dial and case are in good condition commensurate with age. No presentation inscriptions to the case. The buckle is not gold.

A gentleman's rare 1940's stainless steel Longines Flyback manual wind chronograph wrist watch, ref. 4994, serial number 6,411,516, movement c.13ZN, the silvered dial with Arabic numerals and two subsidiary dials, case diameter 37mm, on associated leather strap, with Longines Extract from the Archives certificate.Very minor surface abrasions to the case back, otherwise in good order, commensurate with age and little use. ST 105.003, movement c.321 and numbered 22081504, cased diameter 40mm, on stainless steel Omega bracelet numbered 633, with original purchaser booklet, dated 5/5/65, with later Omega box.Bracelet still quite firm. Minor surface scratches ti the bracelet and case back and sides. A few larger nicks to the left side of the case. A few nicks to the tachymetre in places. Scratches to the dial cover. Dial in good order. Some loss to the luminescent material within the hands.
