Omega. The current lot features a 'Racing Dial', recognisable by the 'alternating' minute track to the outside. Unlike most minute tracks, this iteration is split into intervals that protrude in and out from the dial edge. They take this particular form in order to make them as visible and easily-readable at a glance as possible, handy for the driver or navigator using it for its intended purpose. The 145.012 Red Racing Dial Speedmaster is one of the rarest Omega watches ever produced. So rare are they that at one point they were assumed to be prototypes that mistakenly left the factory. There are two types, one with 'Professional' to the dial and one without, referred to as 'Pre-Professional.' This example is a Professional and recent estimates put the total production numbers for this iteration at just 5-10. Alongside the white alternating minute track, it is the red hour markers, teamed with red hands, which marks out these incredibly rare watches. This example comes from the son of the original owner. As he recounts it, his father was prompted by his employer to visit a jeweller of his choice to select a watch thanking him for 50 years of service. On attending a small family-run jeweller in Hamilton, a town in the west of Scotland, he chose the Speedmaster, unaware of its rarity, as was the jeweller presumably. He wore the watch frequently, eventually leaving it to the vendor who kept it in a drawer for approximately forty years until early 2024.Complete with box and International Guarantee, this lot presents a wonderful opportunity to own an incredibly rare and very significant piece of Omega history. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

Cartier. The Collection Privée, or CPCP, marks a transitional period in Cartier's watchmaking history. After several years of focusing mainly on lady's quartz watches, Cartier delved into their archives and brought back historic designs that hadn't been in production for many years. The focus of the CPCP was on high quality design, movements and craftsmanship. This exclusive series produced in limited numbers until 2008 included the Crash, Chinoise, Obus, Tank Cintrée and Asymétrique to name a few. The original Cartier Tortue first appeared in the brands' repertoire over a century ago after Louis Cartier first designed the piece in 1912. French for turtle, the Tortue has a gently curved case and traditionally was a time-only piece. In 1999, as part of the CPCP, Cartier introduced the Tortue Monopoussoir which houses the calibre 045MC by THA Ebauche. THA Ebauche was the brainchild of the soon to be superstars of the independent world, Vianney Halter, Denis Flageollet and Francois-Paul Journe. It is no wonder then why in the past few years CPCP models have been gaining popularity among collectors, especially as neo-vintage watches gain more traction in the market. This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: YY Subject to CITES regulations when exporting items outside of the UK, see clause 13.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

Iconic to the design are the rider tabs on the bezel which were put in place to protect the glass. Schneider observed that often pilots would give their watches a heavy knock on the metal frame when they exited their aircraft. It was then in 1984 for the 100th Anniversary of Breitling that the model was officially launched to the wider public. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

Moving into wristwatches along with most manufacturers in the second quarter of the 20th century, the brand is perhaps best known for introducing the first automatic chronograph movement to market in 1969. In this, they narrowly beat both Seiko and a consortium including Breitling and Hamilton to the finish line. Housed within the El Primero wristwatch, the calibre 3019 movement and its successive iterations were, and still are, highly-respected. The movement has been used by many brands including Rolex in their Daytona, until as recently as 2000. The current lot is one of the Chronomaster line, one that pays homage to the original El Primero wristwatch. It features an 18ct rose gold case with a semi-skeletonised dial revealing the in-house calibre 4021 movement within. The 4021 is of course a version of that famous first automatic chronograph movement, with the addition of a power reserve indication complication. This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: YY Subject to CITES regulations when exporting items outside of the UK, see clause 13.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
