With a folding engraved plan in an attractive contemporary morocco wallet stamped in gilt, "Middlesex. For the Prison Committee. The location is said to be outside the White Hart Tavern at Blackwater, Hants. Sold with a further watercolour attributed to Charles Newhouse depicting ’The Quicksilver Devonport Mail at Temple Bar, London’; and two coloured prints after Gillray titled ‘Coaching in Scotland’ and ‘Coaching in Ireland’; an unattributed watercolour c1820 depicting The Newington - Stanford Hill – Tottenham Coach; and a primitive watercolour sketch (after Dighton) inscribed ‘Hell Fire Dick, he drove the Coggeshall Coach Cambridge Telegraph(sic) died 1814’; six (6)"

A circa 1900 mahogany and satinwood inlaid bergere settee, the double caned back and sides with swept arms over a single caned seat on square tapered legs to brass caps and castors, bears ivorine tag inscribed "From Jas. Schoolbred & Co. Tottenham Ct Rd London", rear leg stamped "W4253", 122 cm wide CONDITION REPORTS Overal with wear and scuffs. Some fading. Some knocks and chips to edges. Some cracks to veneers and some lifting to veneers. Some breaks and losses to the canework, but overall appears to be in reasonable order.
The Metropolitan Boroughs, as Defined by the Reform Bill The Electoral Reform Act of 1832 created the metropolitan boroughs of London as depicted on this finely drawn plan that extends from Tottenham in the north, West Ham in the east, south to Norwood and west to Kensington. The River Thames is depicted flowing through the center of London from Greenwich to Battersea, Wandsworth, and Fulham. At bottom left is an explanation of the boundary lines and a list of `liberties` - the name given to areas exempt from the jurisdiction of the country sheriff, being subject to a separate commission of the peace (in this case royal and governmental authorities). The upper corners are decorated with the arms of the City of London and the City of Westminster, both embellished with floral sprays. Issued folding with light offsetting concentrated in the lower half of the image and some short fold separations, most of which have been closed with archival materials.
