Popular music culture- Bob Marley autograph "To Debbie love Bob" on a Top Rank "Sundown" Edmonton 1973 flyer with other autographs including Judge Dread, Desmond Decker, Madeline Bell, Steve Barnard (DJ), Iroy and others. Please note; In 1973, I was lucky enough to get tickets for a reggae festival at The Sundown in Edmonton, North London, with Bob Marley and the Wailers headlining. I was 15 at the time and went along with some school friends from Tottenham. We were very excited and there were lots of famous names of the time: Desmond Decker, Dandy Livingston, Judge Dread, Iroy, Madeline Bell and others. The radio DJ Steve Barnard was the MC for the evening. It was an unforgettable concert. The venue had no seats, although it wouldn’t have mattered anyway as everyone was dancing the whole time! All the acts were brilliant, but Bob Marley and the Wailers were truly exceptional. Towards the end of the concert my friends and I went backstage to collect autographs. Everyone was so kind and friendly. They all seemed quite happy to sign the flyers (for the next concert) for us. We saw Bob Marley near the dressing rooms at the back of the stage. He was sitting casually on top of a cupboard, smoking the biggest joint I had ever seen. He did offer me some of the joint, but I turned it down as I just wanted an autograph! I had a lot to learn at that age. He was such a naturally kind and very charismatic man, with a truly unique talent.

It was contested to mark the coronation of Elizabeth II, with Aberdeen, Celtic, Hibs, Rangers, Arsenal, Manchester Utd., Newcastle Utd., and Tottenham being invited to take part.Despite not being favourites, Celtic saw off Arsenal (1952/53 Division 1 champions) and Manchester Utd. (1951/52 champions), to meet Hibs in the final. Indeed, the person to whom this was awarded, goalkeeper John Bonnar, was critical in helping the team to victory. With his help, Celtic won the final 2-0 vs. Hibs in front of 117,000 spectators at Hampden.Again, in the words of the Willie Maley song:'Well Coronation time was here, Fifty Three, that was the year, Another four from England met their doom. They said ‘we’ll have to try again’, But like before it was in vain, Because the Cup is in the Parkhead trophy room'
