Harvey, 18th Battalion (Irish Rifles), London Regiment, who was killed in action on the Western Front during counter-mining operations at the Hohenzollern Redoubt, Loos, on 24 December 1915 1914-15 Star (2347. Pte. G. H. Harvey, 18-Lond. R.) in named card box of issue; British War and Victory Medals (2347 Pte. G H. Harvey. 18-Lond. R.) in named card box of issue; Memorial Plaque (George Horace Harvey) in card envelope, with Buckingham Palace enclosure, extremely fine (4) £140-£180 --- Provenance: Acquired by the vendor directly from the recipient’s family. George Horace Harvey, a native of Tottenham, Middlesex, attested for the 18th Battalion (London Irish Rifles), London Regiment, at Chelsea and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 9 March 1915. He was killed in action on during counter-mining operations at the Hohenzollern Redoubt at Loos on 24 December 1915, on which date the Battalion suffered 15 killed and 11 wounded. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, France. Sold together with an unofficial ‘Hornsey Commemoration’ 1902 Coronation gilt brooch badge; named Record Office enclosure for the British War and Victory Medals; two postcards sent home by the recipient to his sister; and copied research.
A fascinating late 19th century handwritten personal book belonging to W. G. Holden of Tottenham Green, Middx. containing sixteen original watercolour and pencil drawings and every page completely full with interesting text and further doodles and notes, with frontispiece detailing the owner and the period of the majority of entries being the 1880s, rebound using the original leather bindings.Additional InformationA really fascinating example and as complete as you will see. A couple of the pages are starting to come loose and a few have some staining issues around the edge, with two pages having water staining to them, but a very good example.

Manchester United were champions this season and played Tottenham West Ham Norwich Southampton and Notts Forest along the way.
