A set of two carver arm and six single late 19th century oak dining chairs, each with carved top rail, splat and turned stiles, with red leatherette upholstered seat and raised on turned front legs, one bearing plaque "Hewitson, Milner & Thexton, House Furnishers, Tottenham Court Road" (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: These chairs are in generally good condition and could be used in their current state without the need for any repairs or restoration. One single chair has an old break across the bottom edge of the top splat this has however been repaired and is structurally solid and there are no significant timber losses. All remaining chairs are in good condition. All chairs are very slightly loose at the rear joints but as stated are perfectly serviceable. The red leatherette upholstery is generally in good order if a little dated. All chairs have some rubbing to the original top polish which should be clearly evident from the photograph.
