Lot No: 10 - Ref No: 016 Winter Sunrise By Yvonne Taylor Summer Holiday Home: Simmons Park, Okehampton "The inspiration for my Otters came from looking at a sunrise in winter, behind a wooded stream embankment. The mother and baby otter are emerging from the water, the bare shrubbery of the winter around them, the morning sun rising behind the hills. The colours I use are typical of my paintings where my love of colour is of great importance, this coming from my textile background. As a professional artist who was born in Devon, I have over the years since returning to Devon been inspired by the colours of the Devon landscape in particular Dartmoor and its rivers. Having studied Fashion/Textiles at St Martin's School of Art gaining a BA from London University, I returned to my home area of East Devon where I taught art for a number of years. I have been painting seriously for 15 years, exhibiting, and selling my work widely. As well as painting East Devon Landscapes, other subjects of work have been Café Society, Colours of India and Italian Landscapes including Venice. This Otter is a 'Golden Otter' - one that has been specially selected by a panel of expert judges as being particularly stunning. Of the 81 Moor Otters there are only 25 Golden Otters. These Golden Otters will take their online bids to the live auction on Saturday, 2nd October 2021 at Bearnes, Hampton & Littlewood, Okehampton St, Exeter. You can continue to bid on these otters at the live auction in person or online.

In 1903 or 1904 Møhl-Hansen drew a design for Jensen that would have a major impact on the firm for years to come. the design of a standing dove in profile surrounded by a circular wreath was subsequently used as the central motif for a belt buckle, brooches, bracelets, earrings, and necklaces and is one of the most recognisable of all the silversmithy’s designs. At least one version of the design - a belt buckle featuring two doves - was included in the silversmithy’s crucial 1904 exhibition at the Kunstindustrimuseum.
