BIANCHINI- FÉRIER. Three framed, watercolours on paper with pencil annotations, c. 1960's French scarf designs; 'Maitre de Haute Voltage', French Armorial scarf design, and one dated '9.2.1965', French scarf design, 72.5cm x 74.2cm and 65cm x 55cm, (3). Provenance: Christie's July 2001, Bianchini Textiles sale.
Morrell (Lady Harriette, 1843-1924). A collection of eleven sketchbooks, containing numerous pencil drawings and watercolours, many annotated and dated, one book full of sketched patterns and designs taken from textiles, architecture, and china, etc. (one inscribed 'Philip thinks this hideous'), the others containing a variety of subjects: portraits, landscapes, flower studies, street scenes, figure and animal studies, Continental scenes (one album entitled 'Rome 1912'), e.g. 'Old woman at Bruges', 'Ewelme, Almhouse', 'S. Michael's Mount', 'H.S.J. Morrell', 'The Ferry - Walberswick. Sep.19.1891.', 'Street in S. Maurice, Vallais Aug 23 1896', most volumes with Harriette's ownership at front (one inscribed by her 'a book of things & places I shall never see again -'), together with a scrapbook containing bookplates (including one designed by Walter Crane) and a few sketches relating to embroidery, with Harriette's bookplate on front pastedown, various bindings (two incorporating a paint palette), oblong 8vo Provenance: From the collection of Lady Ottoline Morrell, thence by descent. Harriette Anne, a keen and accomplished artist and needlewoman, was the daughter of the Reverend Philip Wynter, President of St John's College, Oxford and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford. She married Frederick Parker Morrell, and they lived at Black Hall, St. Giles, Oxford. Their second son Philip Edward Morrell married Ottoline Violet Anne Cavendish-Bentinck in 1902. A memorial exhibition of Harriette's needlework and painting was held at Black Hall the year after her death, from 2nd to 14th February, 1925, for which Blackwell's published a catalogue entitled 'Harriette Anne Morrell. Born 26th March 1843, died 9th November 1924: A description by herself of some of her needlework and painting, edited by her son'. Her painted screen (lot 487) formed part of the exhibition. (12)

Vintage & Designer Clothing, Accessories and Textiles - Box of vintage lace, wedding veil, satin shoes etc, together with five pairs of ballet shoes in three boxes Condition Report Ebroidery shawl has a small stain and a few minor holes, cream shirt has pulled threads causing 3 small holes, bonnet has one small stain, night dress has damage in various places, could be moth holes. Also large stains. rips on the seams, missing buttons. Childrens gown, dark stains, fraying of material loose threads. Children's embroidery top, some loose threads and discoloured in places. Good condition. Children's christening gown - four stains, fraying and loose threads on seams. Some rips in fabric. Netted/crochet table cloths damage to thread, stains on edges and discoloured in places. Pinny good condition, stained in places. Embroidery beaded fabric, lost beading in sections, frayed edges and loose threads. Ballet shoes - red pair in good condition. Pink pair - all in worn condition, stains and worn in places. Wedding shoes - worn condition, no major marks on the silk. the insole is in good condition, just worn around the edges and sole has scratches. Wedding veil - the embroidery is all intact but there are large rips in the netting mainly where it should have been attached to the headpiece. Flowers are all in good condition. Vintage & Designer Clothing, Accessories and Textiles - 1960s evening dress bearing Frank Usher label, and with Christopher of York retailer's label, size 16 Condition Report 16" armpit to armpit. It appears that the labels have been re-sewn into the garment, perhaps following an alteration? The vendor was a model for Christopher of York in the 1960's/1970's. Generally, stains all over the skirt and the hem is filthy. The 'belt' where the bodice meets the skirt at the back of the dress needs re-attaching and tthe skirt needs sewing up at the back as per photo.
