A group of various animal skulls, mostly 19th centuryComprising: an oak carved wolf’s head, with antlers and crucifix, on a turned base, inscribed to the reverse, ’Saint Humprys Stag’, 32cm high, a pair of mounted antlers inscribed ‘Heimerzheim 9/8 1893’ and on the reverse ‘Taken from Heimerzheim Palace, Bonn, Germany 1912, G A Pattensen’, 30cm high, a stag’s skull with antlers, 42cm high, an animal skull, 16cm wide, an animal bone jaw, 20cm wide, and a painted plaster model of a human skull, 22cm wide. AN AMERICAN SOCIETY SWORD & SCABBARD. Having a gilt knights helmet pommel, with white ivorine grip decorated with masonic devices. The blade etched with knights and inset sloping crosses, skull and crossbones, etc. The blade marked The McLilley & Co , Columbus Ohio being 27.3/4" in length. The gilt decorated scabbard and croosguard inset with enamel sloping crosses. The legend 'Be Though Faithful unto Death and I will Give Thee a Crown of Life. The Knights of Ohio C 1900, in very clean condition with some loss of the enamel in places.

A 17TH CENTURY GERMAN BLACK AND WHITE COMB MORION OR HELMET, two-piece skull with raised comb and downswept shallow brim, turned and roped edges, the base retaining eight of the ten foliate lining rivet washers. The brim pierced to either side, the whole with gold and black paint, rust beneath.
AN ITALIAN ETCHED MORION-CABASSET IN THE PISAN STYLE, the skull of characteristic almond form with down swept shallow brim drawn out to a pronounced point at either end, retains fourteen domed lining rivets with brass foliate washers, etched with panels of foliage and strapwork, further incised with cruder scrollwork and an eagle and snake to either side.

A JAPANESE KABUTO, the iron skull composed from seventeen riveted plates, braced by a head band, a mid band and a top plate, the latter extending down the back of the skull to form the central plate to the rear. Excavated condition. For a similar example of a helmet constructed in this fashion but with extended neck defence and copper and gold decoration see item 28602 in the Metropolitan Museum.
