A CHINESE CLOISONNÉ LIDDED WATER PITCHER19th CenturyThe surface of the large copper “monk`s cap ewer” completely covered with cloisonné decoration in the form of spiraling leafy branches interspersed with lotus flowers and other Buddhist emblems of good fortune; the elaborate patinated copper dragon handle with cloisonné under-body scales and painted enamel tail tuft; a flaming symbol in high relief on the inside of the monk`s cap.Condition: One scallop on monk`s cap bent; another`s edge flattened, exposing the copper beneath. Bottom of body repaired; possibly worn through with use.
