A 2 gallon copper beer pitcher from HMS Euryalus, height 13” engraved HMS Euryalus on apron rim at bottom, with engraved fouled anchor on breast of body. Small St George shield stamped below top rim. Good Condition (minor dents) Plate 12 Note: HMS Euryalus Captain Henry Blackwood accompanied Victory when joining the fleet from Portsmouth to sail to Trafalgar. Capt Blackwood offered Nelson to hoist his flag in the Euryalus to be more out of danger but Nelson would not hear of it. Euryalus was engaged with the enemy at 3.30pm and ceased fire approx 5.25. Euryalus towed the Royal Sovereign when she became dismasted and Collingwood transferred his flag. Euryalus still managed to give the Santa Anna a broadside that crushed her side in, after which Admiral Collingwood sent Capt Blackwood down to Victory to enquire the health of Lord Nelson.
