With its 1950 Plus 4, Morgan moved upmarket in size, weight, power and price. The British manufacturer realised it might lose some potential customers but was happy to live with the situation for a while. By mid-decade though, the Plus 4 had become more potent and Morgan felt it should, again, field a lower-power car. This explains the revival of the Morgan 4/4 though it was completely different from the car that carried that title during 1935-1950. In fact, the new 4/4 was closely related to the Plus 4. The main difference was engines, purchased from Ford instead of Triumph. The re-born 4/4 began production in 1956 and ran all the way through until 2018. Like other Morgans, it always had the same chassis design, body construction and styling, a kind of technological time warp that customers keep coming back for. Morgan built old-fashioned cars the old-fashioned way and vehicles of that nature just won't be hurried.This handsome 1600cc 4/4 was first registered on 1st May 1980 and is presented with cream coachwork which has recently been repainted and a contrasting black hood and trim. This example is offered with V5C registration document and an invoice for the recent repaint and five tyres. We are informed the underside has recently been treated to preserve it for future years. The four seat configuration of these Morgans makes this a very practical example with the additional wet weather gear perfect for those summer drives to members club meets or touring the great British countryside. Astronaut Barbara Morgan signed Space Flight Center Shuttle Mission FDC. MAR 1989. Barbara Radding Morgan (born November 28, 1951) is an American teacher and a former NASA astronaut. She participated in the Teacher in Space Project as backup to Christa McAuliffe for the 1986 ill-fated STS-51-L mission of the Space Shuttle Challenger. In 1998, eight years after the Teacher in Space Project had ended, she was selected by NASA as an astronaut candidate, training as a mission specialist; astronaut Morgan flew on STS-118 in August 2007. THEATRE: A Staffordshire Pottery Flatback Theatre Group, modelled as Catarina and Diavolino from “Catarina, ou la Fille Du Bandit”, by Dudson Factory, mid 19th century, she on point, standing in an arbour, beside a seated minstrel, with a bridge and swan below, 19cm high. Refer: “Dudson Staffordshire Figures c1815-1865 by Audrey Dudson & Alison Morgan” page 77 figure 120. “Catarina, ou la Fille Du Bandit” was a ballet by Perrot. This figure was dubbed the “Blue Parsley” figure by Audrey Dudson. The piece was modelled from a lithograph of the ‘Polka ‘ which shows Catarina and her lover Diavolino. Catarina, was the leader of a band of brigands, loved by both Diavolino and a slave, the artist Salvator Rosa. It was first performed at Her Majesty’s Theatre on 3rd March 1846. Third figure with loss to front, possibly a hookah pipe.
