"Edward Tindall in Civil War Uniform (Grandfather Tindall)". American Civil War - a report of Private Edward Tindall of the Keystone Battery of Philadelphia American Civil War - a report of Private Edward Tindall of the Keystone Battery of Philadelphia Report about the misdoing of Lt. Walsh and Sergeant Brown during the Civil War, five pages written in ink. Tindall recollects that he, like other sons of wealthy families of Philadelphia, was a soldier of the Keystone Battery "during the war of rebellion". The Battery was subordinated to the 196th Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers and was not, as had been promised, equipped with "Field Pieces (called cannons)" but with muskets and detached to infantry service. After guarding "Rebel Prisoners at Camp Chase" near Chicago, the regiment was chosen to guard the city of Springfield, hometown of President Abraham Lincoln, as security guard. At that time the highly esteemed "Boys in our company" were made part of the social life by the "upper class of the community of Springfield". Lieutenant Robert Walsh and Sergeant Amos Brown betrayed this confidence of the Springfield community, forgot their good breeding far from home and seduced and impregnated two virgin girls from wealthy families. With it the diary of his later wife Martha R. Bannan from October 1856 to August 1858. More than 180 pages written in ink, dark blue leather binding (binding somewhat loose, back with imperfections). With the verve of a probably 16- or 17-year-old school girl, she describes meticulously accurate and piously her daily life, social and familial events, first romances and much more. Furthermore two studio photographs (Broadbent & Co., Philadelphia, and Edward Morgan, Philadelphia, partly coloured) of Martha R. Bannan, one inscribed on the reverse side "Grandmother Tindall...", as well as two photographs of Edward Tindall in Civil War uniform of the Union (one coloured, Broadbent & Co., Philadelphia, and Rehn & Hurn, Philadelphia), one inscribed on the reverse side "Edward Tindall in Civil War Uniform (Grandfather Tindall)". She is probably Martha Ridgway Bannan who translated "Die Laune des Verliebten" ("The Lover's Caprice") and "Die Fischerin" ("The Fisher Maiden") by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe into English, published in 1899 by John C. Yorston in Philadelphia ("Translated for the First Time and in Original Meters"). Condition: II -

Make & Model:Citroen, AX GT Date of Reg:H925PPW Colour:Grey cc:1360 MoT:2025-04-02 Fuel Type:Petrol Mileage:34400 Transmission:manual Summary:Now a rare machine, this Citroen AX GT was registered in August 1990 and has an MoT through to April 2025. Its odometer reads 34,400 miles, which is believed to be genuine - there is a service record through to 1994 (at 15,793 miles) after which there's a gap until the MoT in March 2011 at 31,804 miles. However, the car was known to be in storage for several years. The car's originality extends to the original dealer plates and tax disc holder on the car (Duff Morgan of Norwich) as well as a dashboard with no cracks, which is rare for a MkI AX. It has received a respray at some point prior to the vendor's ownership. Recent work includes a new cambelt, water pump and head gasket in 2023, while the last service was in May 2024. The Citroen is reported as running and driving well, albeit with the vendor noting that the heater blower only operates on speed setting 3 (a common AX issue, which is resolved by replacement of the blower motor resistor pack).Paperwork includes the current and past V5C, MoT certificates back to 2011, assorted invoices, some old tax discs and a brochure. There's also the book pack with owner's manual, Blaupunkt radio instructions, Citroen dealership directory and service book with five stamps, the last in May 2024 at 34,133 miles.

He creates unique works, employing TIG welding and laser techniques, to produce sculptural art works with a high level of precision and scale, tackling what might be made with silver, in comparison to past achievements with the material. He noted that ‘The starting point for each piece is an emotional response: a desire to express a moment or set of ideas in physical form. These can be as varied as a scientific concept, or lived experience of historical events.’ Grey has been presented with the highest award for Designer Silversmiths at The Goldsmiths Company Awards three times, and his work can be found in important private and public collections including The Goldsmiths’ Company in London, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff and the Art Gallery of South Australia in Adelaide, Australia.
