Property of a deceased's estate1993 Harley-Davidson 80ci FXSR-SP Low Rider SportRegistration no. K980 DGSFrame no. 1HD1EGL16PY115649Engine no. EGLP115649Odometer reading: 2,664 miles - not warrantedMoT expiry date: 30 June 2010•With the present (second) owner since January 1994•Requires re-commissioning•Supertrapp Performance silencerThe motorcycling world's biggest and most widely recognised brand, Harley-Davidson has been synonymous with rugged, uncompromising individualism for more than one hundred years. Large-capacity v-twins have been Harley's stock-in trade since the Edwardian era, their various incarnations progressing through countless technological developments that continue to this day. Towards the end of AMF's 1970s stewardship though, the company's future looked less than assured, so the success of the Low Rider was all the more welcome. Styled by Willie G Davidson and introduced for 1977, the Low Rider was the latest in the FX custom/cruiser line that had commenced in 1971 with the Super Glide. But whereas the latter was positioned mid-way between the Electra Glide and Sportster, the Low Rider was a bolder statement altogether. Its raked out forks, stepped seat and minimalist looks were clearly a nod in the direction of the chopper movement, which had been restyling Harleys in this manner for decades. Low and mean-looking, the first Low Rider set new standards of 'cool' among production motorcycles that have yet to be surpassed.Offered here is an example of the Low Rider Sport, a variant newly introduced for 1987 that featured improved suspension and a smaller front mudguard. Acquired by the late (second) owner in January 1994, the Harley boasts a Supertrapp Performance silencer and a carburettor air scoop, and currently displays a total of only 2,664 miles on the odometer. It is not known when the machine was last run and whilst the machine cranks, it does not start. Sold strictly as viewed, it will require re-commissioning or possibly more extensive restoration before further use. Offered with a V5C document and other paperwork.Footnotes:Vendor Score Total: 56/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to strict COVID-19 guidelines and full instructions will be given when making your appointment. As new with only five delivery miles from the pre-delivery inspectionRetains factory protective film to the Super Sport windshieldEmerging from 17 years dry storage as part of our vendor's collectionOriginal Bill of Sale from Harley Davidson, handbook and sales brochuresCertificate from Harley Davidson stating final 'Anniversary' model to be deliveredAccompanied by a trickle charger and Harley Davidson Anniversary coverIntroduced in 2001, the VRSC family bears little resemblance to Harley's more traditional line-up. Designed to compete against Japanese and Italian 'muscle bikes' in the expanding 'power cruiser' segment, the "V-Rod" makes use of an engine developed jointly with Porsche that, for the first time in Harley history, incorporates overhead cams and liquid cooling. The V-Rod is visually distinctive, easily identified by the 60-degree V-Twin engine, the radiator, and the hydro-formed frame members that support the round-topped air cleaner cover. The Revolution engine is based on the VR-1000 Superbike race programme, co-developed by Harley Davidson's Powertrain Engineering team and Porsche Engineering in Stuttgart, Germany. It is a liquid-cooled, dual overhead cam, internally counterbalanced 60 degree, V-twin engine with a displacement of 60 cubic inches (1,130cc), producing 115 hp (86 kW) at 8,250 rpm at the crank, with a 'red line' of 9000 rpm. it was introduced in the new V-Rod line in 2001 for the 2002 model year, starting with the single VRSCA (V-Twin Racing Street Custom) model and the 2003 models leading to the 100th Anniversary edition. The V-Rod we are offering here is not only a rare 100th Anniversary edition but a truly exceptional example. It was manufactured and delivered in 2003, has never been registered and subsequently never used. Having been carefully dry stored by our vendor, its only owner, it remains in superb showroom condition gleaming from every aspect, and still retaining the protective film on the windshield. It's accompanied by its original Bill of Sale from the supplying dealer, Warr's Harley of Kings Road London, the original Owner's Manual, sales brochures and a special Harley 100th Anniversary cycle cover. With a certificate verifying it as the last 100th Anniversary to be delivered, with only 5 miles recorded whilst undergoing the manufacturer's pre-delivery inspection (original copy also included), we very much doubt you will find a better example of this very collectable V-Rod. We tend to steer clear of saying 'as new' or 'new', but in this case, we recommend you inspect this future classic and compose your own conclusions. Surely unrepeatable!
